Possibly some of the best dark fantasy I've ever read, its about a dwarf slayer, who's seeking a heroic death in battle to atone for a past sin and his human bard who swore an oath to record Gotreks death whilst drunk. Whats interesting about it is, the characters themselves, sure its got brutality and epic conflict by the page load, but the way the characters act towards one another, it all seems so very... well real. Which is a huge compliment to the writing talent of William King, that in a universe full of such over the top nature he makes it all seem so very human.
