Hey, everyone.
What to say...what to say...

You can call me Countess, Spookula..spooky. Anything is fine. I do have a real name, but no one ever calls me by it on Gaia.

I am 21 years old and I am currently attending college while racking in the student loans. Oye.

I joined Gaia in early 2005 after a friend told me about it. It took me forever to get into it, though. lol

Off of Gaia, I like to hang out with my friends, watch movies (movie buff here) read, and make art.

Hmmm - I don't know what else to say. I have a lot more information on my profile and if you'd like to know anything else, feel free to ask.

Thanks for accepting me into the guild and I hope to make some new freinds. 3nodding

The thread title made me smile!

Here's to student loans, we can swap horror stories sometime (grad school was killing me, I just couldn't take it anymore debt wise, I was doing great grade wise).

As for making friends, it is very easy to make friends in this guild, if not--- tell me. I say this a lot, but you'd be surprised, whatever your interest, usually we have someone in the guild with the same interest.

Lol. I am glad you liked my title - and I love your camal signature. Too cute.

Yes, I am really enjoying college at the moment, but I die a little inside every time I pull out more money for student loans. Haha! And don't even get me started on books. eek It's nice having people who can relate as I constantly feel like the only one amongst my friends and fellow students who have to get student loans to attend college. (Although I definitely know I'm not.) But...I am just happy that I am able to attend despite the fact that I am going to owe it all back. xd

Student loans are evil...I should now as I almost had to start paying mine back this month.
Welcome to the guild, here you will find a number of odd balls and goofs. Fairly well educaited and experienced goofs and odd balls nonetheless.
What are you studying?

The books are devastating. What's a bummer is when I was doing grad work I thought "Ah, only 9 credit hours, I should have less books to buy and save money!". The problem was teachers decided to assign more books. Some were affordable, only about 30 bucks, but they'd assign 10 of said books. What was sad was they would only use a few pages from each of those books xp

Then there was a teacher who wanted to assign an out of print book...

Anthropology, very nice. Do you have a particular time period or civilization you most enjoy learning about?

A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight...

I'm loving all these green themes. It's nice to see another friend of green in the group.

...and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.

Argh. I know what you mean. I hate paying a large sum of money for a book, only to find that we never use them. confused
Last semester I had to pay $192 for a history text book, but at least I got a lot of use out of it and it was for a two history courses. However, they decided to get new editions, so when I take the second course, I have to buy the new edition which will be another $200 - and I can't even sell my old edition back, either. I would just use my old edition for the second course, but I was informed the new edition is going to be a great deal different than the previous and I trust the instructor for this class, so....

A lot of the time it isn't the professor/instructor's fault that we are assigned these books since they have guidelines from the college which they have to follow for teaching their class, so I don't really blame them for it. xd

I have never been assigned an out of print book before. o_o

Recently, I have just been going to Amazon to buy older editions, though. I can sometimes get older editions for...$5-$10 bucks. You just have to make sure the instructor isn't uptight about it. Haha

Anyway! I'll stop ranting and answer your other question. I really enjoy learning about ancient civilizations and ever since I was little I have more specifically been interested in the Ancient Egyptian civilization. How unique, eh? Lol. A lot of Anthropologists who go into the archeology sub field go into Egyptology, but I don't know if I want to go into that specifically anymore. I still have a ways to go before I decide what I want to narrow it down to. (:

It's reasonable to have an interest in Egyptians. They did, after all, make massive contributions to the development of civilization as we know it.

Myself I have a fondness for Minoans. Cool ruins, and paintings where men are in the background and women are prominent... and bulls. Hmm, feminist-pre-hindus?
