Kolina Being closest to Lemurrin Xilias smiled and stopped with the boy near the closest egg to them. "You may." Xilias smiled. "This isn't my first time doing this. I know what it's like to be itching to caress one of the eggs." With a grin Xilias shifted his weight periodically as the heat from the sands seeped through his boots causing discomfort to his poor feet. Lemurrin smiled at the younger boy. "I stood at the last Hatching, but missed some of the candidate lessons. Harper duties and whatnot," he explained. He stepped forward, also shifting his weight because of the hot sands, and gently lay one hand on the smooth curved surface of the egg. A thrill ran through him and he fancied he could almost sense the little dragon within.

Soon, other Candidates were touching the eggs and murmuring softly to them. There were a lot of them there, ranging in age as well. He wondered how many were weyrbred and how many were holdbred. Not that that mattered to the litle dragonets on the inside. All that mattered was that each little creature found a partner worthy of fighting Thread together.
Nestren moved his hands gently over the egg. He, like the others, stuck with his egg...not really too interested in moving along. After all, the eggs were all about the same size and color. No one, not even the great queen herself, would know which egg held what color until the hatched. Nestren wondered for a moment if Farin's tough face had softened just for a moment when she had Impressed.
The holder's son had started to realise that his happiness may no longer be the most important agenda...especially since Threadfall was not too far away.

Tallith was the first to notice the little firelizard as it darted towards them, brown head curved elegantly as he watched it dart downwards, pausing to glance at Ariath. The golden queen was still a little tense, eyes watching her eggs carefully and ready to pounce on anyone who touched them the wrong way.
That little firelizard has a message. Tallith relayed calmly, flicking wings tightly to his sides and shifting a little closer to the queen, daring to touch his nose against her shoulder in a sign of comfort.
The queen's silent growl went unheard as she emitted a soft croon, relaxing a little further, but not taking her eyes from the Candidates for a moment.
The Weyrwoman nodded slight thanks to the flitt, reaching up to untie the small letter from the creatures leg before opening it and beginning to read.Quote: Weyrwoman Ephia,
Your Hatching dress is done and waiting for you. I can either have it sent to your quarters, or you may come and collect it yourself. It was an immense pleasure to throw my talents into something finally worthy of my skill. May it do you and your queen justice. Please reply on the same note and give it back to Meekar. He knows what to do.
MasterWeaver Emoraan A smile glittered across Ephia's face as she read the note, feeling quite excited about the prospect of wearing the beautiful dress. She had been shown the golden material a few days prior to this and had been astonished with what she would seen. One thing was for certain and that was she would be very distracting in such a gown.
"Must have been good news to have you smiling like that." L'cian said softly.
"Masterweaver Emoraan finished my Hatching dress." She replied with a secretive glint in her eyes. "You have any writing tools on you?"
"Yes I do in fact, I was doing some work just before I came here and didn't have time to return to my weyr." He retrieved them from a wide pocket in the side of his jacket and handed them to Ephia who gratefully accepted.
"Thankyou." With that she wrote a quick reply;
I would be grateful if you could send someone to bring it up to my quarters, for though I would have loved to collect it myself I don't think it would be wise to have Ariath leave her eggs so soon after the touching event.
I look forward to seeing it, and have complete faith that it will be a beautiful gown.
Weyrwoman Ephia.
Then with that done she moved to once again tie it to the leg of the firelizard and gave his small eyeridge a scratch.

Meekar gave a happy chirp and leaned into the scratch. Then he gave another chirp and disappeared.
Emoraan waited for his flit to return. The little one returned after a moment, eyes whirling happily. He sent emotions of happy and looking way, way up at the big, big one.
Chuckling, Emoraan read the reply and nodded to himself. He could only trust a couple to take the dress to the Weyrwoman. ----- Nestren was enjoying being with the eggs. He wondered how long it took eggs to finish hardening and hatch. Soon, he expected. After all, the eggs felt very leathery and hard now. And then he would be standing on the sands, not as a silly child...but as a true Candidate and hopefully future life-mate of a dragon.

Nestren sat down and allowed Kirana to pet the egg and touch it for a little bit. It seemed like everyone was getting tired now and taking turns. Soon it would be dinnertime and he would have to get back the the kitchens to cook. Glancing at the egg, Nestren smiled. He would be preparing a lot more if he Impressed!

Fellis crooned softly as they passed the hatching grounds on their way out of the weyr. The tiny green's tail tightened around her mistresses neck & her sharp foreclaws walked their way down the young woman's arm, finding a better perch to see into the grounds. Even without speech the meaning was clear. Kyira smiled to herself & pet her green's soft triangular head. "Okay." She whispered, if only for the sanctity of the nearby area. "We'll take a peak around the entrance, but no more." Her voice took on a hard tone of comanding obediance for the last two words & she held Fellis' head to look at her in an attempt to inforce the urgency. The little green's eyes whirled happily. Hopefully that meant she understood Kyira. She smiled. "We wouldn't want to upset the queen."
Ever so delicately Kyira tip-toed to the entrance to the hatching grounds. The young journeywoman drew in her breath at the site even as Fellis cooed softly in her ear. Only seconds did she pause there, peeking around. When she drew away she felt changed. Awed. Caressingly she stroked Fellis' head as they drew away, joyfully watching her green's happily whirling eyes. In her own eyes she could feel the hot wetness of moist tears shimmering just over the surface. It was a sight to cherish.
With that sight in mind they continued to make their way out of the weyr.

He couldn't be caught fooling around his father was getting physical. He walked on leaving the sight of the hatching grounds behind, the happy candiates, everything he wished for.

Heroe was on her way out of the place when she noticed a new person, he was sad. Which was rather odd, she ran up to him,
"Hey, Hey! What's wrong? Why so down? You should be happy, at least there is a chance for us all to have one."

Kalhin shook his head. "I am not a candiate."He said slowly. "You should get down there. IT seems your rather late." Father would be angry at him if he didn't get back soon. "I have to get going now." Kalhin smiled weakly and contiuned on his way. 'Hope she din't see my bruise.' He though.
