Hmm... I have a devART account, but I really don't think my stuff's very good... Particularly the pencil drawing I attempted of Kate Bush. It just doesn't look right.

I could draw something for the guild!

I don't have many pictures scanned, but I do have a deviantart. Because so many pictures on it are old, I'll put a link of my favorite posted up so far. razz

If you want, you can check out my main page, but my old stuff may just make your eyes bleed.

I'm moving this to the Chatterbox subforum; it makes more sense there.

Now that my applications are done, I may share my portfolio with everyone;
I also feel safer now that I have created and added my watermark to my images
(these are high-resolution, quality images).

My apologies for stretching the page a little, but I feel that my art is worth it.
Also, feel free to post any questions you might have about any of my work.

While dedication to the fine art of life-drawing is admirable, I find that it is the true realm of the artist to gather from life that which does not occur there, creating something singular, if not 'original' in the purest sense. As such, I find your Fauvist work to be the only interesting piece included, as, while it conforms fairly well to the movement with minor formal inconsistancies, it also gives forth a glimmer of a personal interpretation of the subject matter. "Old business" is technically competent, though not especially individualised. From a purely subjective viewpoint, I am not one to interpret technical drawings as art.

Thank you. Your opinion on art is your own.

There is much to formal subjects that allows for great interpretation - abstract art may approach the limit of originality, but artists such as Chuck Close demonstrate that any apparent dichotomy between photorealism and abstraction is not easily delineated.

I agree that "Old Business" did not fully explore its program. Additionally, as may be demonstrated above, I am not yet sufficiently endowed to efficaciously sojourn into the "realms of abstract art".

Post-script: After viewing your dA, I believe I now comprehend your remark about "originality". However, I question your opinion - as an artist yourself, you are aware of the creativity requisite in successfully completing a program, whether from life or not.

I do of course recognise that the process of creation is every bit as important and satisfying as its ultimate result.

I must emphasise that I at no point stated that abstract art is superior to art which captures verisimilitude of life. What I maintain is that art, if it must be so called, is that which takes the formal discipline -- be it photorealism, cubism, impressionism or classical portraiture -- and injects into it a sense of the artist. I have seen many wonderful paintings of roses while working on exhibitions, but where they are nothing but skillfully cold reproductions, I can't bring myself to recognise art. If the roses make me feel or make me think beyond just the mental recollection of what it is which makes a rose a rose, then that is art.

Also, a note on my gallery: if you have visited, do you perhaps have a few words to pass on it here, even if they be limited and general?
