i was just watching the Crossroads of Destiny, and I know it doesn't really matter now because the Earth King is gone but he is the worst king ever. He couldn't fight or anything. The Firelord seems like he is the best fighter. The Earth King cant even fight. I don't think he deserves to be a king. Bumi should be the king of the entire Earth Kingdom or Toph should be the queen because she is the most powerful (as of now). The earth king seriously sucks.

The Earth King was probably born into Royalty, as most Kings would be, and he didn't have to be all super powerful by earth bending because he had guards that were powerful enough to protect them, but then again he was being used by the Dai Lee for their own desires.
He's never been outside his 'safe' kingdom, and he would not have thought that he would be controlled, probably by the way he was raise. God knows, or in this case, the creators knows.

i think the earth king is funny rofl , but a crappy king confused . I mean, when Azula and them snuck into the Ba Sing Se as soon as the king saw them he blabbed the whole plan about the eclipse!! scream I mean, just cuz Sokka said they were friends doesn't mean the earth king should trust them immediately, or at least don't go around just blabbing about their SECRET INVASION PLAN!! Geez!
yeah, so as a king, he has kinda sucked - and its not all his fault, ya know, being decieved that the world was peachy and all. but they coulda gave him some more common sense. stare

I just think he is a bad ruler. I mean, why wouldn't you go outside of the palace. What was keeping him inside? What did he do? Does he have any friends (besides the bear)? I understand he didn't to know how to fight because he had the Dai Lee but the firelord has tons of guards and he has Azula, Tai Lee, and Mai, and he is one of the most powerful firebenders. And it's not like he was randomly chosen to rule. He was still of royalty and they never kept him in the palace the whole time. I'm just saying that compared to the firelord, the earthking is nothing.

The Dai Lee pretty much kept him inside the palace, and I really don't think he had any friends since he's never been out his castle.
Well Ty Lee and Mai aren't really The Fire lord's guards, more like Azula's "buddies"
Another thing is, The fire lord had to be good at fire bending or his father would not appreciated him, and he might have been gifted with that sort of powers, like Azula~
And when you really think about it, Ozai was kind of randomly chosen to rule, though, it was Ursa that killed the fire lord before him so he would be on top. Iroh should have been the one to rule, not Ozai.
Spoon feed: Fire Lord is better than Earth King.
Earth King is just a minor character.

I would find it highly amusing if he reappeared in the series at a later time and turned out to be this badass bender. Like he always had the abilities, but was never taught because the control the Dai Lee had over him would be lost, and since he's sort of found his own way in the world he may have unlocked his abilities. I know this is highly unlikely, but I would actually like to see it happen. In some stupid way, he reminds me of another character in another anime I love.

 Ursa killed the firelord? Maybe I missed something, but I always thought Ozai killed him and his wife. Although I guess it woulf make sense that she killed him and because of that she was killed. who knows?

I just found out al little something I hadn't known before. Does anyone remember "Samurai Jack"? Apparently the guy who voices the Earth King also voiced Jack. I loved that cartoon when it came on, I miss it. I never would've guessed the voice actors were the same, they sound nothing alike.

You really can't blame the earth king for staying cooped up in his palace and not knowing anything becuase in a lot of cultures that's just how it was done! The king wasn't really supposed to rule the country, he was just a figurehead or even a god-like figure in some cultures.
I do agree that as an actual ruler, he sucks, but it's really not his fault. And at least after Ba Sing Se fell, he decided to travel the world and learn something about it.

Now I want to find a good youtube clip and compare voices. I tried but you know how often Jack even speaks and the number of clips on youtube turned out to be small already.
