I constantly have at least 2.5 million gil at any given time. I also have the best weapons and armour money can buy (and some treasures that money can't buy), keep everything stocked at 99 (X-potions, ethers, remedies, etc.) and have all the grimoires and canopic jar. It's really easy to get money in this game. Just remember to steal whenever you level, you get your loot x2. Especially if you're going to places like the Henne mines or Giruvegan where the drops are great, or the Cerobi Steppe (steal from the Shield Wyrm). Also invest in a diamond armlet and thieves cuffs when you can. It yields great results. I found the Ensanguined Shield because of the armlet.
