Even with a stranger in the house, no matter who or what he really was, Rafael managed to get to sleep quickly enough. Having another being in the house didn't stop making the house feel the same emptiness as it had all those years ago. And the reminder that he'd been alone all this time made his old memories affect his dreams.

He'd had the same dream ever since he was a child. It was more a collection of memories twisted together into a nightmare. He was five again, back when his teddy wasn't as worn, alone in the large backyard. When he tried to call out to the shadowy figures that disappeared into the house, no sound came out of his throat. Trying to follow the shadowy figures failed didn't work either. The figures kept moving farther and farther away, never turning back. And, when he finally did managed to reach the house, every room was dispairingly empty. Rafael's heartbeat quickened and he felt more and more desparate with every room, every empty hall.

And then he woke up, jerking out of bed and falling onto the floor, a tangled mess of sheets and limbs. Rafael didn't do anything to free himself though. Just sighed as he started at the ceiling. That dream...he really hated that dream. Always empty, always alone. Just like this place was every day.

Ah, but there was that man today. Demon. He really ought to check on him. Rafael groaned, untangling himself and wandering out the door to the room he'd left that man in to recover. One hand lifted and knocked on the door gently. "...Caecus...?"

There was no reply from within. The room now empty, just as all the others in this despairable house. The demon had left the bed in a mess, not bothering to fix the sheets; what reason did he have to? The glass of water the boy had given him that night, still lay on the bedside table empty. The demon had truely no reason to stay any longer, however, tomorrow the boy's request would be fullfilled and the situation for both would soon drastically change.

The answer of silence made him hesitated for a moment before opening the door to the room. Rafael stared at the messy bed and sighed. Empty. The boy frowned. Had he been expecting something? That the demon would stay with him? That was a ridiculous idea, wasn't it? But he'd been hurt, hadn't he? Or had he healed so quickly?

Well, that didn't change the fact that he had to clean up this mess. Rafael sighed and began arranging the bed, pulling at the sheets and remaking the bed. Once that was done, he picked up the glass and sighed again. Time to make breakfast for one again...

Caecus had been gone all night, moving discreetly in and out of this world and the underworld in preparation for granting the human boy's wish. There were many items and factors necessary in order for this request to be fulfilled properly and the demon was not about let it go wrong. The reason; because he had a personal stake in the whole ordeal.

Morning had come and gone, a red-skied dawn quickly rising into a blistering early autumn afternoon. When Caecus had finally reached his destination he was quite simply exhausted and ready to put this boy's wish at a rest. Within the wisp of dark shadow, the demon entered the abode.

All at once everything came together in a whirl of darkness, the boy was sure to be pleased. After all home is where the heart is. And now thinking of the boy, the demon suddenly realized that he was not home. All the better a surprise. For who wouldn't want to share their home with a demon?

Most of the day Raphael had spent away from his house. He walked the streets instead, getting lost in the crowds and trying not to feel so alone. It didn't quite work though. There had never been any comfort when he tried wandering in through crowds before and his mind kept going back to man...demon he'd brought home last night and had disappeared before he'd woken up this morning. Was he really okay? Raphael definitely should have called emergency last night. It wasn't likely that Caecus was well enough to be wandering around alone. He'd been bleeding for god sake!

Caecus had said he was a demon though... What could Emergency have done for him? ...Was he a demon? Now, in the daylight and surrounded by people, Caecus's statement didn't seem likely. Demons... Demons didn't exist. They couldn't exist. And wishes definitely did not come true... Maybe he'd made up all of it. Fallen asleep and not noticed that he had. It happened before.

Raphael sighed as he returned home, carrying two bags of groceries since he'd forgotten those bags from last night outside. A bit of juggling was required before Raphael entered the house. Empty as always, it seemed. "I'm home..." The boy muttered before walking into the kitchen he needed to put these things away...
