Hello!
Well, it's just a general question regarding my Japanese homework. I'm a first year in the language, however, I noticed something rather odd and reoccurring in my textbook and lab/workbook.
In the "printed version" of certain symbols, more specifically "Sa", "Ki", and "So", the symbols look one way.
But in the written version, certain parts of the symbol seem to be..missing?

I figured maybe it was a misprint, but it does this over and over in both booklets!
Is this common? Or...what? ._.

Yeah, it's more unusual to actually write the hooks for sa and ki the entire way through without breaking it. Same with so.

So...
It's uncommon, but is in fact used?

I think when people write it out, it's generally unconnected. My teachers definitely told us not to connect them as well.

iZenna So...
It's uncommon, but is in fact used? It's uncommon to write them completely connected. I can't recall ever really seeing sa or ki connected in handwriting, but I've seen so written connected on rare occasion.

"If you cannot win at the game, if you cannot solve the puzzle, you are just a loser." How strange, indeed. o:
I don't know...I've seen them in "Printed Form" for so long that they look very strange to me unconnected. mad
I asked my teacher today about it. She said it was generally OK for me to write them connected, just as long as it "Fit" into the designated writing space..or..something. ._.;
For the most part, I've written everything printed form, except for "So", which tends to flip flop. ._.;
Anyways, thank you very much for your help!

My Sensei told us that you don't connect the lines in "sa" and "ki" when writing them yourself, but they are connected in print. She said you can write and/or print "so" either way. She uses the disconnected one, but I use the connected one.
