Ok, I talked to my mom about leaving excel and she wants to talk to my teacher about it. I don't want to do that but we are going to... I really just want to leave because it's just not something I want to do anymore. I used to think it'd be all cool and stuff but it's no different than regular school, just more advanced. I just want to be somewhere where it's ummmm what's the word, not so hard. It's just too hard to deal with. I'm way to streesed and I'm started to become depressed. And that's never a good sign. Some very faint thoughts of suicide comes to my mind at times when I'm depressed but then I think of what would happen, who would be sad, that sorta thing and then I start bawling my eyes out. I just want to be able to get away from the world and stuff and relaxe.

Well, I'm in an Excel class in my grade. Or Excel block since we're all together the entire day except for our electives. (If you don't know what excel is, it's pretty much just an advanced math class. In my case, we're learning 7th grade advanced math right now) And well, to be frank, it's the best class I've ever been in. It's not really the learning that really great, it's the students in my class. I've always have been the smartest person in my class in Elementry school, therefor, most people thought I was a teachers pet for some reason. I just needed a challenge and my teachers would give me different papers than some of the other students, she would give a group of us smarter people those papers not too often yet I was the only one being called a teachers pet. Students in my past classes just didn't like me for some reason. They thought I was really weird I guess. But anyways, now, I'm not the smartest kid in my class. There are a whole bunch of smarter kids than me in excel. I like almost all the kids and it's a lot funner. I'm a lot more popular than I was at any year in elementry school. I'm happy in this class/block. But the thing is, my grades are not good. In language arts and social studies, I have A's but I don't like the teacher. She is mean and tells us to shut up all the time. Which normally, teachers don't tell us to shut up because the princepal doesn't like it when teachers do that. In math (The excel class) I'm getting a C. In science, I'm getting a D (Mainly because I'm getting that C in math, I'm trying to get that up and yet my grade went down in the other class. The teacher for math and science is really nice, I like her a lot but she does get mad at talkers sometimes. Which is normally me but she doesn't get mad at me, only the other teacher does...

So anyways, I just don't think I can stay in excel anymore. I want my grade to be at least a B but in math and science I'm getting below that. I'm going to talk to my mom later today about solution about my grades. I'm thinking that the best solution would be to quit excel. But I love to class soooo much, I don't want to leave the students, most of them like me and I just like being in that class. My best friend is in the other class but in my block (She's in math 4 and I'm in math 2) and she doesn't want me to leave either, she says she'll tutore me but she hasn't helped me in at all yet. And my grades are still suffering

Do you think I should leave Excel?? Do you have any other solutions that I could do?? My mom said we could go to my teacher and try to get my grade up but I don't like that idea. I've done it before and I've always wound up crying for some reason. And then the teachers act like I'm a baby and try to calm me down and it annoys me. Also, lately I've been talking in class and have been moved from my seat constently.

Do you by any chance have a resource program at your school?

In my area, the kids who need the extra help catching up in school (like kids who don't go to school alot, or have trouble concentrating in a class enviroment) can take a period off, and use that time to catch up on their schoolwork. I've been doing that ever since I went into highschool, and it has helped me alot.

Sometimes, I have alot of trouble concentrating in a class enviroment, and on top of that, I usually miss an average of one to two schooldays a week. (I have a weird attachment to my house. It's a psychological thing I won't get into), and that one period can really get me caught up in my work.

And the good thing is, you can get an elective credit for it. 3nodding So, you don't have to worry about not graduating when you have one of those classes.
Maybe you should discuss that with the school before you make the choice to quit Excel? And if you decide to in the end anyway, you can always see those kids at lunchtime. 3nodding

There's no sense in quitting, hun. You just have to try harder and be a little more quiet :/ In quitting, you're only proving you can't handle the teacher, but if you love the class so much, then you should do everything to stay in it, right?

Well you should. I think you should X3

Just try harder, and get tutoring if you need. Don't quit and let the teacher win D

Well, if it were me, I'd advise you against quitting Excel. I mean [not to be rude or mean or anything] it sounds like you're looking for a free ride through school. You talk about how you used to be bored but you were getting straight A's, and now that it is actually a challenge for you, your grades aren't as good as they were before. Um... that's life. :/ You need to learn how to change your work habits. You can't act the way you used to. Stop talking during class and start paying attention. Take notes on what the teachers says when he or she is explaining something so that you'll have those notes for later. If you need tutoring, schedule some time for your best friend to do it with you - it's for you, so you should be the one who is making the time for it, not her.

I'm thinking about this for later in life, when you're in university. What will you do when your grades for a course aren't that good and you can't quit because that course is a requirement? University classes don't come in two levels. It happens a lot more than you think it does. It's happened to me, and it's happened to other people. You don't quit, you just hold on and do everything it takes to boost your marks. Even if that means studying six hours for an exam or something like that.

Sorry if I sound unsympathetic, but really. That's how it honestly sounds to me and that is always something that bothers me, having been in your situation when I was younger. Don't quit. You'll regret it.

No, we don't have a program like that, not many middle schools do where I'm from.

It's not really the teacher or the class, it's the learning. I just don't get it, I've tried my very hardest and it is just too confusing.

I was talking to my friends today about this topic and they think that if the class is too hard for me (I already stay after school every Tuesday and Thursday to get help.) then I should just move to a slightly easier class. (I don't consider it quiting. I think it is doing what I need to to get through school and life easier.)

Don't quit. Don'tquitdon'tquitdon'tquit. Really. Please don't. D:

Because I know you can do better. C: Because you're a very smart girl. So I would spend more time on your homework, and a little less time with friends/on the computer. And I know that sounds sucky, but you'll love that you got ahead in math and science and everything else. Trust me, it gets you into higher high school classes and then it's easier to get into college. So just tough it out. I know you'll get through it.

It's better for you not to quit in the long run if you try just a bit harder. Try tomorrow not talking to whoever you're sitting by. Like as hard as you can.

And seriously, if you need any help on math, drop me a line anytime. I know it'll be a bit weird on the computer, but I can help you anytime. :3 And science too.

But I'm not looking for a free ride!! I didn't get straight As in math in elementry school. It was that it was easier for me to do and the ways my teachers would teach it to me. But my teachers have not taught me or have taught me in a different way than what my teachers now are teaching me.

I don't think that this was the best year to start Excel, it's my first year of middle school and I think that I need to wait another year before trying to move up in the difficulties of math.

I'm feeling very emotional about this right now. I would feel better if you could say things in a little bit nicer way. For the sake of my feelings. I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
