This really isn't much about anything but just then as i introduced my new red honey gourami to the fish tank a moment ago i noticed a black blob on one of my plants. It was a little snail! I've been looking around to buy one and haven't been able to get one suitable for freshwater tropical tanks.

The last time i bought plants were a few weeks ago and i do spend quite a bit of time looking into the tank each day and i only ever saw it until now!

What the?

Anyway seeing as i now know of another new little buddy in the tank i was wondering if there's anything i need to do for healthy growth of little snails.

Also is there anything i can get to help boost the colours of my fish? My sister insists that one of them is getting duller (I really don't think so but that might just be because i look at them alot). Is there any reason why they would get duller? It seems perfectly healthy...

Lol xD I would be happy to get rid of the snails instead of keeping them... The snails probably came from the plant, after a while you might get more and more... Try feeding them some blood worms to enhance their color. But don't feed them blood worms everyday, like maybe once in a while because they may clog their intestine and that's an issue...

I love free snails. I had quite a nice population of them (off of plants) and they were very good at keeping all my decorations clean, up until my loaches figured out that they could EAT the snails.

Then, they destroyed all of them. gonk

I only have one snail, now. He's a great big fellow that I purchased, and so far he's been cruising around for three months without becoming loachfood.

For enhancing colour, I agree with Sweetange. Feed them bloodworms a couple of times a week. (Frozen are good, but freeze dried are better.)

I have a pleco in my tank ,named Motoko, that I think is a Ancistrus tamboensis. I thought that he would keep my tank clean but maybe I shold think about getting a few snails because my castle decoration is getting all brown in the crevaces she can't reach.

but I'm wondering if my little goldfishes will eat them.

From my experience Goldfish won't eat them.
Well not unless they have a soft shell.
You can put a seashell (salt free of course) in there or some other product that contains a lot of calcium in the aquarium.
The snails will absorb the calcium (somehow) and devolp harder shells.
This will change the water ph thingy of course.
