Well, My school has two beginning bands, a jazz band, a symphonic band and a concert band.
MY Band Director took out concert band and split up the symphonic band into two!
Now theyre called Brass techniques and Wood wind techniques
so my idea is take out concert band and split the symphonic band!

Okay, music teacher here, so make sure your pencils are readily available!
Let me explain some of how band classes are set up, mainly in middle school but a lot of highschools too. I'm explaining this as if this particular school system starts band classes in sixth grade, so bear with me here.
At the bottom of the rung, we have our beginning bands and classes, where mainly sixth graders learn how to first play their instruments correctly.
From there, we have Concert Band, which consists of 7th graders and those of 7th grade caliber. Concert band starts focusing on large ensemble repertoire, better tone, and working together as a group to make a good overall sound while advancing personal skill on each individual instrument.
Jazz Band is here inbetween Concert and Symphonic.
At the top, we have Symphonic Band. This consists of primarily 8th graders, where less class time is spent on how to make the instruments make the correct sound and more on making music.
***
The reason why your band director split the concert band into brass and wind techniques is to prepare that intermediate phase of music learning for Symphonic Band the next school year. In those technique classes, I'm sure you're learning more about your particular instrument, how to better ascertain good intonation, superior tone, and get more notes under your fingers.
He most likely didn't split Symphonic in two, because in the long run of your middle school music career, you'll want to shine at the end of your 8th grade year with one big band playing the big boy music.

Actually, our middle school band program dosent work like that.
Beginning band - First where you learn to blow in your instrument the CORRECT way. when youre done with learning all 12 notes on your instrument, you can choose between trying out for jazz band, concert band or symphonic band.
Concert band - (before it was taken out) This band is worse than beginning. The people here dont know which way tp blow in their instrument, and the wood wind players dont relize that the reason theyre called wood winds is because that thing on your mouth piece, Its a REED.
Symphonic band - This is the last classical band. This band is famous for straight superiors each year. the students in this band are elite and ready for a harder band class in ninth grade.
Jazz Band - This band, you need to try out for. It is very difficult to get in, but its worth it. The jazz band goes on Gigs to earn money ofr the band program. the jazz band is Number 1 in the FBA list for straight superiors when the program was found.
