This year our color guard had to do a vertical half spin toss and then swing it around their backs while we where marching toward them... Well the vertical half spin was fine until the person I was in front of swung the flag around and hit my right in the mouth...knocked two teeth out and I had to walk of the feild cause I was bleeding to much xD

I'm co-captain of my school's colorguard, but I'm most skilled so the band members are generally glad to be positioned near me instead of a few of the less coordinated members.
I hit a trumbone player last year though, but it's because he was being an idiot. I was walking in a straight line backwards to my next spot and he, walking forward, ran straight into me and I was doing work so I hit him in to middle of a fast rotation. We didn't have a colorguard director this year, our band director doubled as one because our guard director couldn't do it. But they've always reinforced the idea that if we are in our spots we do our work. If a band member is in our spot, we hit them. There was a clarinet this fall who was always too far back in a follow-the-leader to an endzone, and she'd always be way too close to me when I was moving towards the opposite endzone. So the director told me to hit her if she got in my way and I did a few times. But after that practice she was always in her line.

My section leader last year got his tooth chipped because of a color guard pole and my friend got whacked in the face right before finals this year. She said her face was hurting all day after. I've, luckily, haven't been hit yet. Although the stupid color guard freshmen that was by me a good majority of the show kept almost hitting me...

Our colourguard has a couple good members, but the rest are pretty bad. Our director told us that since the guard kept getting in our way we should run them over if we had to till they learned their right spots. Our guard director is an art teacher, so I don't think she really knows what she's doing half the time.
