I don't know a full definition of the word love. What does it mean to all the various people? is it a semantic null, or context sensitive or an absolute? The only working (if limited) definition I've heard ever is from Robert A. Heinlin. His is "Love is the state where the happyness of another becomes essential to your own". Mine needs work, I can't find the right words for it.

That is a very good question, and a very complicated one. The word love is a sad limitation of the English language. For example, there are five different Greek words which can be translated as love.

Only 5? I thought it was a bit more, but maybe I'm thinking of latin or another classical language.

I'm pretty sure it was five, though the only three I can remember are:
Philia- Love, brotherly love, or friendship. A love based on mutual satisfaction.
Eros: An assload of different things. The word from which we derive Erotic. Unconscious, passionate, physical or sensual love. Also associated with selfish love or a love based on received pleasure.
Agape: Unconditional or altruistic love. A love based on the pleasure one can give to the other.
Some others I just learned:
adamo : to fall in love with, find pleasure in.
amo : to love, like, be fond of, cherish
amor : love, affection, infatuation, passion
carus : dear, beloved / costly, high-priced, expensive.
diligo : to choose out, esteem highly, prize, love.

I can't remember the rest of them either and I'm too lay to check, so your facts win. Your prize is one digital cookie, and a cool "win" lolcat of your choice.
