Has anyone noticed Gaia's somehow managed to get even worse since the Cash Shop? I mean, it pretty much tipped over the edge the minute it took on MTV and other a**-tastic sponsors, and started giving out s**t items in great handfuls to shut the whiney kiddies up, but seriously? I still adore my little pixelated Gemstone, she's as pretty as I could make her, and they came out with some pretty items for me to put on her, it's like having a paper doll only with a lot more options and less tendency to tare. I even joined a guild with a 21+ adults only theme, which is great as there's virtually no teenspeak and no beggars. However I'm finding overall, Gaia's content quality has dipped below the red line. I'm not talking code red, I'm talking the ship has already been overrun with borg who have taken over the bridge.
I've sunk a total of $20 into the site since November 2003, the rest of my assets have been gained through activity and investing. Now that the Cash Shop is here and Gaia can get a new cash injection every time it starts to come down just by releasing a new item or two, well, it's like they've completely stopped trying... and I'm less and less interested in spending time here, sweeping my kitchen floor is more compelling. I check in, usually once a day as I'm on the computer already, and I spent gold in the marketplace on Biancamella's as they're swirly and pink and sparkly - ******** yes - but I make maybe on post every couple of days at most, even though I'm on the computer as much as I always am. I'm not the slightest bit interested in an MMO, and never have been, the one item I have hoped they'd make (angelic backwings) has not been created through FIVE YEARS of constant requests from damned near 80% of the user base, and the only incentives to log on at all - the occasional chat with friends and perhaps a sparkly new item sold the good old fashioned way by the NPC's - are drying up.
I really don't know where I was going with all of this, just that Gaia stopped being shitty because of the user base -an avoidable issue if one sticks to guilds and chats with regulars of similar interests, which is how I spent my time on here the last 4 and some odd years- and started being shitty with sponsors and more cash grabs from it's members, in other words, the site itself has gone too far under, it's no longer just the idiots and children that are turning this place into the bog of eternal stench. The cesspool has festered over the edges, and I'm finding less and less interest in visiting at all. I know I'll keep checking in, but Gaia has really stopped doing it for me, which, to be honest, has saddened me.
