I've been listening to discussions about combat (mostly in anime or movies, but literature comes up, too.) I've noticed that bow combat is rarely mentioned. Guns or swords rule discussions, and as soon as I bring up bows, I am quickly pushed aside, with comments such as "bow fights are boring."
What do you think?

I think a bow is cooler looking than just a gun. Holding a bow looks more badass than holding a gun.

It not only makes you look badass, it also gives you a sence of power. Think of it like this, you shoot a gun and the bullet is bound to hit. Unless you have a HORRIBLE aim, or have a weak gun, the bullet is bound to do a certain amount of damage. Most the time, that impact will kill the person. Ok, so now we go to swords, which one clean cut and the person is good and dead. So then we get to bows... The way I see it, it's boring to others because of the smaller kill rate. But, with a bow you have to figure out a certain aim pattern. Once you get that down you have to fire it at a core location to kill the target. A gun's force kills the target, the sword can easily chop the target, but unless the bow is like 70lbs, the bow has to have a certain will to kill something.
Take all of this into account, and then kill something with a bow. Now tell me that kill didn't make you feel powerful!

I reckon that for ranged fighting, it's bows, i mean, there that easy to hit with, and besides to those non believers out there who think that bows are crap compared to guns, i have 3 words for you : HAIL OF ARROWS.
but, i reckon that swords are the best, as whist bows are great, you can't use them in close range unless you strangle some one, or bash them with your bow, which will wreck it., however swords are able to be used in close combat, and if your good enough, even be thrown.
guns however, are crap, sure they cam kill, but it's dishonorable, at least with bows you have a chance to dodge or block, guns are an instant kill.

It takes more skill to use bow than a gun, so I would say a bow is awesome.

I know how to use both bows and swords, although my aim isn't the best, and I like both of them. sweatdrop

hey have you guys shot guns in your lives? they are not instant/automatic kill. Its way harder to be a crack shot at a bow than a gun sure, but a shot to the leg (gun or bow) won't kill you unless you happen to hit the artery. but still i do see the dishonor and lack of work put into a gunshot..... but mostly its just different.
My weapon of choice is still bow though... Harder at a close range and while moving but dead silent, except for the slight crack of the string on bracer and swoop of the arrow cutting air......aahhhh i loves me some archery.
