Aw, standard cheating story... the little boy who wants to have his cake and eat it, too. Anyway. Tyler sounds like he is in way over his head. Most likely, he asked Becca out on the pretense that now he would be a "big man" because he has two girlfriends. But he probably didn't realize that it's a lot harder to juggle two intelligent women than he thought! From the sound of it, if Becca hadn't confessed, he probably would have broken before long due to the guilt. But he may have kept it up for a long time, so kudos to Becca for having the courage to tell the truth.

So, I suspect Jackie is well aware deep inside that Tyler is cheating on her. But it can be very hard for any woman to accept that fact, especially when they didn't have a warning or anything prior to the sudden exposure. I think Jackie was probably just really shocked and she reacted in a natural way. It's not uncommon for her to believe what she perceives as the most important person [Tyler] and NOT believe someone who likes Tyler and who might want to go out with him [Becca]. Like it or not, Jackie probably thinks Becca was just trying to break Jackie and Tyler up so that Becca could move in.

Becca, meanwhile, is upset that her desired relationship went off with her being "the other woman". It was wrong for her to say yes, but it was also wrong for Tyler to ask her out in the first place. It's really difficult to be in that position, because often people don't understand how poorly you can be treated emotionally. Added to that the stress of Jackie not believing her, and I don't think Becca will be "the other woman" in a relationship anytime soon.

Okay, so, what can you do? Well, there's some bad news - absolutely nothing. You were not involved in the situation except as a third party viewer. You can't "solve" this situation and you can't force Jackie to understand if she doesn't want to. The human mind is interesting in that way; it can take the oddest of situations and make them perfectly normal. The only thing you can do it wait for Jackie to come to terms with this on her own, and she might never. She and Tyler might break up because of something entirely different, or they might stay together for years. If she does accept this, then it's hard to say what she'll do. But you can't MAKE her accept it.

In the meantime, you can smooth things over with Jackie by explaining to her that Becca is a very close friends of yours, and that when she was upset, you [naturally!] wanted to soothe her. If Jackie is your friend, she'll (eventually) understand that it wasn't a personal attack against her, but instead just about you finding Becca crying and wanting to help. If your friendship is repaired, THEN you can start letting Jackie know in small ways that you'll be there when the cookie crumbles... and Tyler's true intentions are revealed.
