So I got my sternum pierced in December of 2006. It rejected ten months later. Then I got it redone on December, 6th. The original bar was a lot smaller then the one that he used the second time. The second bar sticks out too far and rubs against whatever I am wearing So today I decided enough is enough and I took it out FOR GOOD; and it was starting to get a gross blister looking thing. I get home from school and I decide to just clean the area; so I got a needle out and decided to puncture it slightly (the blister thing wasn't even a blister) so the hot water could go into it and help clean it.. or something I don't know what I thought it would do. After cleaning it I decided that just for kicks I would see if I could put the old barbell in the piercing. Haha; hey it actually worked; cool so now I have a smaller barbell in my chest (yes it's a surface bar) and it's not painfull; at the moment at least but it still has the gross blister looking thing. But even though it's not hurting or anything it still has the scar from the first time I got it done. SO QUESTION TIME; what should//can I do to get rid of all the scarring. I was thinking of just soaking it in hot water twice a day and rubbing vitamin e oil on it; but would something else be better for it?
the top part is red from where it rejected the first time; then the blister thing is a little bit under it.

Yeek. to get rid of THAT much scarring. Try some scar reducing creams as well as cocoa butter. I've heard good things.
But... yeah. Doesn't look good. I hope you figure something out. I say just let it be, though. (Meaning take it out and let it heal)

So my boyfriend took it out for me last night. It's still really dark red though. I'll start putting some scar reducing cream on it once I get paid. It's kinda sad not having it; but it did look pretty gross with all the scarring and crap around it.

Hmmm... I like scars, so I never looked up anything on reducing them. Time will do the trick too, but I guess people don't want to wait. xd

BUT; if I didn't want one I should have thought harder before I got it pierced! My boyfriend said that if it dosen't heal that much I should just get something tattooed over it; LOL.

Be aware that tattoos don't do terribly well over scarring. gonk

Depending on how that thing heals up, you may not even be able to get a tattoo over it. Certain types of scars just cannot be tattooed on.

___________ ||tried to save a place for my cuts and my scratches.||tried to overcome my complications and my catches.|| || nothing ever grows and the sun doesn't shine all day... ||&&& I'm assuming the scar tissue will be bad enough that you wouldn't be able to put microdermals in over the scar to hide it? Shame about your piercing but personally I don't think the scar will be too bad to have, it'll have an interesting story behind it.
