I've always sort of found that any sort of religious jokes are more warmly received when an actual pious person presents them. I know some jokes are just too crude and distorted to even scoff at, but I think it's more about the person telling the joke.
As for religion in general, I like the idea. I just think mankind has skewed what we should be really thinking and focusing on in most religions. I have this friend [I'm just going to disregard her exact religion for now], but I had talked with her for a while about religion. Keep in mind, this would be that one person you know that is just totally and completely devote in her religious studies and practices. I asked her what is the fate of all those who don't believe in her faith, or per chance haven't had the opportunity to learn about her faith. Without a pause at all she exclaimed, "They'll go to Hell." Personally, I don't like a religion that leaves the mass majority of the world burning in a lake of fire for all eternity.
Following one religion without complete knowledge of all the others is ignorance, for you are choosing to go with only what you know and not what you can learn.

I agree, I think the idea of condemning those without the same oppertunities is reiculous. I don't believe it actually happens though, I think those people get some sort of special consideration.

hehe, you missed one helluva discussion in Psyche today about religion. Me and the teacher (and occasionally a few others piped in) just went all over the place on the religious topic.... I didn't get ANY of the work done I could have...

Yea, that's what I think too. It's just that I've had friends [usually the most religious ones] tell me that they don't get ANY leeway at all. Just annoys me when people are all preachy and the like, talking about how their God loves all of us, but he will readily banish the majority of the populace to Hell.
Well, anyway, I know it's a day early, but HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!
I don't like bending to the corporate media, but I do like the idea behind this holiday, so have a good one to all of ya!
