Don't be. It's not worth it to be nervous, especially if you're a freshman. I'm TECHNICALLY a first-year at my tech school (went to one year of conventional school, hated it, dropped out, came here about a week ago) and my experience has been if you're a theatre major and you're not onstage, you will be working the show.
