i like the scheduleing of games for the week i think something crucial tho is getting everyone to become friends on the PSN, that way there, when you would get on, you would see the majority of what everyone is playing, and you could join in
i think that avatar idea is a freakin awesome idea!
ok i remember saying this before, but i shall get it done i was going to create a thread called "Gaming Profiles" and in that thread, you would specify which online games you have, and which you were planning to buy, so that way other people could see who might be interested in what they were thinking about as well...that worked with me since i was hesitant about warhawk till i saw that ppl played it in here. im guessing also in that profile you can put your availability times as well, because like what sailor said, some ppl have school and what not, and im no exception with night class on monday and thursdays, and i dont get home till 9pm at times pending on the class release
also! something else that we can do is make a Folding@Home team here, i think that it will give the guild a little more sense of community...i dunno just a thought

It's a good start, once we get a good base of posters we can start figuring out what evenings and times are best for the guild games.

*raises hand* I gots an idea to get more members. I got it talking the idea while chatting with Viking (somewhat unrelated subject, but it gave me the idea anyway sweatdrop ). There are a lot of "Official" threads in the VGD forum, one notably I noticed was the DS one. So it kind of got me thinking "Why not a PSP one? PS3, PS2, PS1 too? Heck, why not just and Official Sony thread?", if we could get this kind of thing running, and get some regulars on the thread...we could have more potential members.
We wouldn't be advertising either as it would just be a thread about discussing anything Sony-related. And if we got it rolling well enough...we could invite some of the posters to the guild. The VGD forum is a lot larger than a guild advertising forum, and we wouldn't actually be advertising. I think we could rake up quite a few potential members this way. Opinions?

If we get it going enough, and build up quite a few pages and a few regulars...trolls and bashers will be intimidated about going on a "sony sux" spree.

As good of an idea as this is, it'd be hard to truly get the thread off the ground with how the VGD currently is, it's so pro-Nintendo/Pro-Microsoft that anything we post will surely get riddled with asshats.
There are also a variety of other threads already dedicated to Sony.

There are also a variety of other threads already dedicated to Sony. Game-wise? Like MGS? I dunno, if we have a well stated first post, even fanboys will respect and not post in it if they don't want. There will be a few trolls...but if we put this on standby, we could figure out how we would deal with such annoyances so we could have an easier time getting it off the ground. Also, I don't think a lot of the VGD posters would consider it a "PS3" thread(which would be the main thing that would drag in trolls)...since everybody and their grandmother loved the PS2, and the PS had a strong base also. As for the PSP, I don't think it's in the red...it's not really popular like the DS, but there isn't a mass of people that will go in the thread and be like "ZOMG!! PSP SUXORS!!". There are still a lot of people loving the PS2...and I have a feeling that would be the main thing posters would talk about if we were to create this thread. I'm not too sure this would stop some people from coming in to flame the PS3, but I'm sure we would get enough PS2 posters in there to get it off the ground. I think that would be a good at preventing a flamefest ultimately having the thread sent to the bin...

I've seen smaller threads like this. In fact, one of the more successful threads I saw was dedicated only to the PS3--and it did fine, reaching up into the 200 pages this Jan. It's slowing down immensely, and it's out of date as the original creator of the thread lost his account, but we used it as a place where people could come in and talk about the PS3 in general. It's located here. You can see how we dealt with PS3-trolls in there, also: when there wasn't much going on, we'd disprove their insults, which were usually aimed at the PS3's price, ability to function, or games. When we were all on and talking to each other, though, we generally just ignored them. Trolls really weren't as prevalent as you guys seems to think they are, especially once we started getting into the higher numbers with pages. If the vast majority of the regulars here decided to help keep this thing alive, then chances are, it'll do fine, if not great.

A lot of us active here at the guild can set up camp there...just the 6 of us(Viking, Sailorcancer, You, Si-Shen, Ezeikial, and me...probably a few more members) could probably make the thread more active. We'll probably gain more regulars if we kept that thread active...more people to invite to the guild smile Assuming the thread doesn't get sent to the Recycling Bin as soon as we get it active again that is. Sorry, I just see a lot get sent there is all sweatdrop But yeah, I really think this could be a really good way to draw in new members.

It hasn't been sent to the Recycling Bin yet, and it's been around quite a while, so it should be fine, especially if everyone wants to just go rushing into it and start chatting in it. ^_^
But I was really thinking something more along the lines of creating our own thread, as that'll really get people more interested into our guild in general, instead of just becoming good friends with all of us, but then balking at the idea of joining a premade guild.

That's what I was kind of getting at from my first post about this. A PS3 thread is nice and all, but I was thinking of more of a PlayStation thread in general...since well you know, this is a PlayStation guild. And it gives a wider spectrum of things to talk about rather than just a PS3...just kind of wondering if it will get sent to the recycling bin as soon as we start it.

We just need to have enough consensus between all the guild members to make sure that it doesn't get sent to the Recycling Bin when there's only two people trying to keep it updated and they both end up offline. Of course, I only really see worthless topics like the "MASTUR CHEEF VS LINK WOO WINZ???????" ones and other repeat threads get sent to the RB.... as long as we're not spamming and actually talking about the PlayStation machines, then we should be fine even with only two people.
