My family are not christian.

I found out in august that non-christians got to hell, i automatically accepted it but i broke down in tears during a christian concert a couple of hours later. crying I thought i couldn't bring them to God. For the first month after, i struggled with the concept, i prayed about it continually, but sometimes (like after i'd just spent time with my parents) I'd just call God cruel and ask how he could do that. I then got to the point where i trusted him with it completely, got baptised and was just confident that i didn't need to understand because God was in control. A couple of months later, a non-christian friend told me she couldn't believe in my God because of this concept. I start thinking it again and try to find an answer, and now i'm back to the struggle.

I believe in God, my faith is not at risk.

Can anyone help?
I love my family, they are brilliant.
Why should someone go to hell for their beliefs? A belief is a belief, not a behavior. You believe what YOU think to be truth, you can't help but believe in what you believe.

Wow a day and I'm the first to find this. Either this guild is slowing down or not enough people check this area of the guild. *Sighs*

To follow a faith is to make sacrafices. It's like saying why should someone who dosn't put forth the effort of school, they do not get a college degree, except on a much grander scale. For people to not beleive, or beleive and not follow, according to the bible there is only one place for them to go. Heaven is reserved for the followers of God, and since there is only Heaven and Hell after death everyone else goes to the other place. You ask why this happens, simple. People simply refuse to beleive or make the sacrafices needed to follow God. That is it in black and white. From the way you sound with recently finding out this unfortunate fact in August, I'm assuming your not that old. I'm not good for comfort at some points and I feel bad for what your going through, but it's better to understand the facts about the faith that everyone you know and care about might not make it to heaven with you.

My faith has been destroyed before it was even truly built. So I may not be the best to comfort you, but I know that is one fact about the Christian faith. And it's a fact that most overlook and do not focus on. Which might very well be a good thing to a degree. Focusing on it too much might cause you to doubt God's will and like you said, call him cruel. But it's how things are done.

It's called choice, Everyone one makes the choice to follow or reject Christianity, there choice is based on there experiences. Just keep praying and hope, I will pray for your family. I hope things work out oh and the way you act can impact the way they look on christianity. Just trust in God to move them in the right direction. biggrin

i agree with angelic blur. The truth is do we want to accept god or not. really it shouldn't be that hard knowing that he created you. and jesus died on the cross for you. but you shouldn't let your friends that are not christians get into your head. don't let them influence you. You have to be strong. And thats hard. but, god will help u...if u let him have the chance and trust him.
as for going to hell for what you believe. A belief isnt just a belief. what you believe in influences your behaviour. if you believe in god, that he is love and kindness you will become a better person yourself. it many different ways it can affect you. maybe being kinder, or not yelling at the person you hate.
And you CAN help what u believe. You choose what to believe. your beliefs don't suddenly take you over. you have a brain to choose what u want to do and what u want to believe in. You ALWAYS have a choice.

<3 Your in my prayers smile

I don't think anyone should go to hell, not considering that God already paid the ultimate price and so salvation has been bought for everyone.

but its a gift that you can not force on people. I know how you feel. when I was back in middleschool I realized that my best friend was not christian. I remember telling God that if she was not in heaven then I would not want to be there. I was really hurt and torn up about it. but God comforted me and I learned to trust in Him.

It seems so hard for ppl to get to God that we often think its impossible, but all things are possible in Him. He has a plan for each of our lives.

When we were 14 my friend was a thief, a lesbian, a habitual liar, a pothead and countless other things. I just prayed for her and never stopped. You could never imagine the joy I felt when I emailed her mom two years ago and got a reply that, not only my friend, but her entire family had come to the Lord and had turned from the ways of the world. God is so Awesome. and its funny how life comes around, I have visited them many times and I love the church they attend, its called Victory. now my friend actually encourages and uplifts me and I talk to her all the time.

umm you do realize that this can't be put to a vote right? because God who for some reason you blindly serve has already decreed that you can only get to heaven through christ. anyone who is not a christian obviously does not fulfill the requirements and thus can't get in.

Jesus said that all one has to do is believe in the Lord and that Jesus died to forgive our sins. He also asked that we accept the Holy Spirit into us to comfort us in our journey through life.

Jesus did not say we had to go to church every time the doors were open, but being around fellow Christians strengthens your faith and gives you a family of fellow believers.

Blind service holds as much worth as the truth at gunpoint. God know that better than anyone.

umm does that mean that threatening someone at gunpoint then shooting them in the head gets them straight to heaven becuase if so i forsee a brand new type of evangelism.

you "found out" that nonchristians go to hell, this diddn't seem apparent fromt he start? i'm a little worried about that. as for being unable to help what we believe i'd say maybe we can. i was once a proud solider of christ. now i'm a satanist.

Listen well:
People don't go to Hell because they don't believe the right thing.
People go to Hell because they have transgressed the perfect law of God(sinned) and justice is demanded of them.
It hurts me deeply to know that many will go to Hell, and I do not wish this for anyone. That's why I choose to evangelize, and to offer my life as a living sacrifice, a tool for God and a messenger for mankind.
People will go to Hell, but it makes perfect sense. Mankind was created to bring glory to God. If we do not serve our purpose to the only one that truly matters, then what worth have we?

And besides, there is no excuse for not putting your faith in the Christ and repenting of your sins. It was not the flogging or the nails that made the cross unbearable. It was the fact that while on the cross, Jesus bore the full burden of sin and the Father had to look away from him. The great enigma of the entirety of the Bible is: how can God be just and graceful at the same time? And the answer is Christ.
We know that God exists by the existence of our consciences, the presence of standards, and the known fact that what is created has a creator. Seek and you will find. Ask and you will receive.

By the way, I'm the only Christian in my family.
