Hi.
I just lost my prayer beads, they were stolen from me. The worst thing is that I don't know where to get a new prayer bead necklace.
I bought mine in China, and I live in Sweden, does anybody know where I can buy new ones? Where I can ship them over here or anyone Swedish that knows where I can buy them? Please help me! this is a disaster! crying

Prayer Beads I dunno, this might help if you are able to buy stuff off the 'net. *Shrug* Lol maybe someone else could find something more convenient, but this was all I could find by doing a quick search.

Akanishi Makoto What kind of mala was it that you lost? This is Huang Yu's friend, using her avatar to answer these questions. Yu is out, still searching for her beads. I don't know what they're named, but they were made by imperial jade (dark green jade). She lost another pair just recently (they were made of lotus seeds, she recieved that one from a chinese friend that came back from China). There are no other buddhists at her school but there are a lot of muslims, they don't like her being a buddhist and my personal thought is that they stole them. She says the prayer beads were "full size" (I do not know if that is the right expression in english) 108 beads. I am not buddhist so I don't know more in detail. But I have a question. What does jade mala mean? what meaning has it? I believe lotus seeds are for help enlightened thinking and loving kindness of the heart? //Fong Jia

I wouldn't fret over them. They're just prayer beads. The beautiful thing was in your prayers, not the beads. The Buddha taught us that we should cultivate a mind that inclines toward abandoning, because such a mind easily achieves samadhi.

I know you should not be attatched to them but I can't buy any new malas anywhere near where I live.

The Buddha taught us that we should cultivate a mind that inclines toward abandoning, because such a mind easily achieves samadhi. Indeed, one should not be attached to the beads. They are, however, somewhat important to have and can be used to help gain that Samadhi. Remember, the Dharma itself is fundamentally sunyata. I may be able to help out, since it's that time of the year and all. PM me some address information and you may be in for a nice surprise come Christmastime.

If you would like to acquire new mala, and you have a means of paying online, I would visit The Hunger Site. For a donation, you can acquire a lovely sandalwood mala and your donation goes to feeding people who are starving. Yours could be the meal that saves someone from death by malnutrition.
