This is the Poem that goes before the story.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DARKNESS
DARKNESS
It moves in to comfort you, no matter what you do.
It moves in slow, then faster and faster
Darkness never leaves you alone.
You hear people you know try to call you out.
But Darkness holds on to you ever so tight.
It wants you to stay as a guest forever.
You want to leave at times but can’t.
You feel so comfortable when you’re with the Darkness.
How can you leave the Darkness?
It’s always been there for you when others haven’t
DARKNESS
Chapter 1
She sat behind a tree banging her head on it for not doing it. Why she asked herself. Why couldn’t I do it? I’ve done this at least ten times before. Why couldn’t I kill him like I was told? The scene played again in her head.
There she was on the roof in her black pants, her loose black shirt and her long black cloak with her sword hanging by her side. She had very short light brown hair with skin that was almost as pale as a ghost. She was about 5’ 7” and almost as skinny as a twig. The only part of her that could be barley seen was the whites of her eyes, for the color of her eye’s changed depending on how she wanted them to look. She smiled at this; she was one of the people all the parents warned their kids not to go near, come to think about it everyone was warned not to go near them for the government said they were very dangerous. She watched the boy (her victim) for a couple of hours to make sure to get him alone. He was in the local courtyard but he looked like he was waiting for something or someone. No one showed up though. When she was getting ready to move in he did something no one had ever done. He all of a sudden turned around and it looked like he was looking right at her. That was impossible though, no one ever saw her even when she was walking down the middle of Town Square. She was so frightened and surprised that she just froze and stared back at those bright green eyes. Then he did something that surprised her even more… he smiled at her then he stood up, bowed, and walked away. Meanwhile she just stayed there with her sword drawn staring at him as he walked off into complete darkness.
“Oh No!!! What am I going to tell Kitty? Well I guess I’ll have to tell her the truth. She should be a bit lenient, I’ve never failed her before.” Jellybean said to herself.
The next night Jellybean went to the graveyard to tell Kitty what had happened. The graveyard was the oldest graveyard still standing. Most of the graveyards had been overrun by the forests and other plant life but for some reason the trees didn’t grow there and the grass stayed short.
Jellybean told Kitty the whole story, every last detail.
“And he saw you!?! How could that be, none of us have ever been seen!” Kitty yelled. Kitty was slightly shorter than Jellybean, with semi-long brown hair, and she was also slightly darker than Jellybean. “Damn Him!! May the pits of hell burn him!!
“Well, Well, Well, sounds like someone’s a wee bit mad. What terrible thing has happened now?” said a strange voice coming them the trees. Both Kitty and Jellybean drew their swords and headed towards the trees.
“Gosh guy’s, put your swords away its just me” said the voice.
“Don’t do that Vix!! We could have hurt you!” kitty yelled, her eyes flaming red.
“Ha!! You really think I would let you hurt me?” asked Vix her eyes changing from black to gray. Vix was slightly shorter than both of them but she had the look of great strength about her. She had a shaved head except for the one black braid that hung right in front of her right eye. She was also very dark, so dark it was hard to see her in the dark.
“Well you never know.” Jellybean remarked.
“I find that be very unlikely.” She smirked “so, tell me what’s happened and who’s going to burn?!?” Vix asked all excited.
“Jellybean was seen on her last mission.” Said jellybean (she has always talked in 3rd person when she’s upset with herself.)
“No seriously…. what happened?” Vix asked hopping what they said was not true.
“Sorry Vix it’s the truth. I was caught even with all of your guys training.” Jellybean said hanging her head. Vix turned around walked slowly to the nearest tree and kicked it so hard that it ended up having a hole in it.
“Who was the victim…who was she supposed to kill??” Vix questioned.
“His name is Leroy, that is all we know” Kitty replied.
“Nothing else?” Kitty shook her head ‘no’. “very well…. Jellybean this is now my job, don’t worry about it the job will get done in time.” Vix said as she got an evil smile on her face and her eyes turned black again.
“What do you mean it will get done in time??” Kitty and Jellybean asked at the same time.
“We need to find out what he knows and who exactly he is. Well I’m off, wish me luck (I might actually need it this time)” Vix said as she walked off then all of a sudden her eyes turned yellow then she jumped into a tree and went into DARKNESS.
“I give her three day’s before she cracks and kills him,” Kitty said with a huge smile and on the brink of falling over laughing.
“I think she’ll last longer than that…maybe the whole time.” Jellybean contradicted.
“Well, we’ll see about that. How much do you want to bet?” Kitty asked.
“I’ll bet you, um…. 10 bucks” Jellybean replied after counting the money in her wallet.
“Sounds like a good even number” Kitty replied, “We’ll meet back here in three days to find out. If she makes it I’ll give you the money.” So they went their separate ways and each wondered how long Vix would last. “Oh send a message to Vix that says to be here in three days.” Kitty yelled to Jellybean.
