Mordath growled at the offer that Astaroth presented. "I do not take pleasure in inflicting pain in those I care about." What Mordath didn't complete is the thought that it just caused HIM more pain - thinking back to the act of desperation he took against Purr - no - Titania in that previous life that seemed so close to him now.
"If I cannot trust you to hold your end, Astaroth - to even maintain control of your own emotions..." He paused, trying to breath and extracate some of the anger that was boiling into his voice, his usually palpable aura now a virtual maelstrom around him "Then how am I to trust you in the future? How if we must rule in separate realms for spans of time? What if someone were to use such a ploy against you? Against US?"

Frustrated, Roth tried to wrap his mind arond Mordath's way of thinking. They'd always seemed to close in temperament and belief, but because they'd started in opposite directions and were working their way to the middle they often missed each other.
"Do you really think I'll let this happen again?" he demanded. "I'm going to fix this, I really am! I'll find out why it's happening and make it stop. How can you have so little faith in me?"
Yes, so he'd betrayed Mordath. But he was sorry. That counted for something, right? It seemed as though the demon really couldn't begin to understand the complex emotions of others who were far more familiar with love and betrayal.

"How am I supposed to know it won't happen again" Mordath countered. "I had no expectations it was going to happen the FIRST time - and with the way you are speaking about being so little in control of your own emotions that you had no ability to stop yourself from SLEEPING with my old friend? An individual who had fallen out of favor with me on several occasions already?!"

Roth sighed. "I cannot argue against you. As you say, my words will prove little. I shall prove to you that I'm serious about stopping this, then."
He was woefully ignorant about any kind of fued between Mordath and Morion. Hadn't the blue dragon been speaking about Mordath as his brother?
"I don't know your history. Would it have been better if I'd slept with a complete stranger?" he raised an eyebrow. Any logic in that particular argument failed him. He blinked. "Horse-boy did keep trying to force his way past Morion to get me..."
