Maybe because her mind is so private and none of the vampire powers (the ones that have to do with the mind at least) work on her, maybe that will be magnified. She can block those sorts of powers if she concentrates enough?

I like the idea of her altering other peoples minds. I will say that her being able to protect her body in some way (along to go with her protecting her mind) but that would make it too easy. That's why I beleive that if/when she gets turned into a vampire is going to be that the end or it'll be skipped over and it'll show their future and a diffrent school and everything. A big reason the books catch peoples minds are because she's a human. Two unlikely people falling in love in the first book, her being without a vampire so she's left in a human world in the second book, and her being able to get hurt in the third so the vampire has to protect her in the third book.
I think she'll make her being a vampire at the end, but there's still a chance it can be skipped over.

get this... she can block mental things and she's only human, right? Her mind is secret, right? and you (well most of you) say that THIS is goning to magnafy. What if, she could protect not only her mind, but others as well when she's turned?

Say the lady with the painful mind trick (i can't remember her name right now) tries to put edward threw pain again but couldn't. why? becasue Bella was protecting his mind.
