We had a substitute the other day who is a former band director(we have him a lot. He is kind of annoying, because we spend literally an hour on just a few measures. In Wind Ensemble, we seriously only played three emasures the whole class period over and over and over again. We never went on>.>)

Well, in concert band second hour, we were doing a runthrough of the only piece we have photocopies for in that class, buccanneers Hornpipe(piratey songXD) Well, we got to about the 83 measure, and for some reason, everybody stopped palying except one tuba. it took two measures for me to stop being confused and come back in, so it was me, the tuba, and an alto sax, all of which are in both bands, and finally the rest of my section comes in, the saxes return, and the whoel band figures things out and joins us. The sub is just like "What the heck?" When we finish the piece, he says "i liked your recovery in 86, thanks to the three people who kep the band from crashing and burnign."

That happened during marching season. just randomly in the middle of a song, the drumline just dropped their drums and ran to someone else's drums, picked them up and started playing again. As this happend, the whole band just stopped because we had no drums. It was funny because it took them like five minutes for everyone ot grab a different harness.

umm, that hapen to my 2nd hour band once 'cause our trumpet player left to all state and everyone follows him when playing music. Me and the barisax were the only ones playing. it was weird.

the other time was In jazz band. everyone stopped except the bass guitarist and the "pianist". but it wasn't our fault. my director was singing one of our songs while playing trumpet at the same time (our vocalist decided not to show up.) It was too funny to keep on playing.

Haha yeah.
We were ending Blues Bros. Revenue with a big shabang..
and the shabang didn't work out, but somehow the audience went wild over the awkward silence, thought it was totally planned.
We blew out the end like mad after that, trying to make up for it...
and apparently everything worked out better than when we don't mess up..
Now we try to mess up the song on purpose but it's just not the same...it was such a perfectly weird moment lol.

I seriously thought i posted this one...but apparently not.

So at Heritage festivals in Anaheim in april, we were playing a song called Triumphant Spirit. Well, at teh very beginning the clarients come in with a few cool runs.

nobody came in. I started to, but squeaked and freaked outXD Had i not squeaked i probably would've gone for it, besides the worry in the back of my head that i had been counting wrong cause the song was hard to countXD

Haha, yeah, that's happened to our band during practice lots of times. It's usually when we're sight-reading. One time we were playing this song called The Blues and the tubas had a "soli", along with the bass clarinets and maybe the bari sax. Anyway, we all started off fine, and all five of us were playing, but as there were more notes, I ended up being the only one still playing and I freaked out and stopped. Yay for awkward silences during band!

We just started concert season, so we were sight reading Jesu Joy of Mans Desiring. Well, we tried to play ti last year, but our bd sucked, had us play it twice before the concert, then the week of cut it completely. Our new bd is determined to play it.

Well, she decided to have us sightread through it. Well, people started getting lost at the top of the second page. We slowly petered out until nobody was left playing. That happened about halfway down the page. Our bd just kept conducting with a 'I'm going to kill you all" look. A few people tried to come in again, but no dice.
Finally, the bd said "4 measures from the end. 3." At the end of the third, she held out a fermata. We all came back in 2 measures from the end. She cut us off, and the entire band was laughing.

I was at a Double Reed Symposium last year and the director picked an insanely hard piece..We had about three hours during the morning to learn it. Anyways, during our performance, all six of the performers, including me, got lost and we all stopped at the same time. It was hilarious and humiliating at the same time.

So our band of fifteen (that is, the number that showed up) were playing at our high school's football game. The weather was terrible; it was as cold as it is in winter, and since it was September, none of us were dressed very warm, it was raining cats and dogs, and the majority of us were starving. It was halftime, and we all stood up to play our instruments. We played up until a repeat, and then we all just stopped. We had no idea why; we just quit playing and stood there like idiots. ^^;; Though, the audience didn't know that wasn't planned and so the only ones who knew we had messed up was our band director and us. It was hilarious. <3
