I'm a freshman but ive been into the highschool marching cause of an older sister. Even as a freshman i know things went downhill. The school used to have an AWESOME director who helped them get 1's for a couple years. He left cause he couldnt get a raise -.-''.
Sooo after 2 years of him leaving...the kids were still pissed. Which is retarded. Like, GET OVER IT! This year i came in, there was a NEW director. The upperclass was still pretty pissed at the other director. and wanted to terrorize the band. so they screwed everything up on purpose. we were yelled at by this new director. whos suppost to be a bigshot director [[Dr. Jay Smith]] he said he's never seen such band that screws things up to make him quit...sooo yeah. it was jacked up. but apparently, next year it'll be better... iunno :/ he said he liked the freshman better. so yay ^-^

This was my senior year, and our home show was canceled due to a hurricane. In early November. In New England. And our winter concert was postponed to a week later because of a snow storm. That meant that our (only) tuba player couldn't make it because of a prior arrangement.
My freshman year we had about 65 members total, we ended the season with 28 (and that includes guard).
We had no drumline this year. We had a snare, tenor, bass, and cymbal for a couple of measures, but that was solely because if there was no marching component our snare was going to quit. The pit was in the middle of the field. For the whole season we marched on and off to a GOCK.

DANG!!! So far, the worst that's happened to me is seniors got mad at the director for "being mean" when he is just trying to do his job so they pretty much gave up and that filtered down through half the band. Then we lost a week of practice cause of fires (yes, I live in Southern Cali and my school ALMOST got burnt) and one of the tournaments had to be canceled because of it so we went to a record low of 3 tournaments this year.
