The Lunatic On The Grass

PostPosted: Sun Dec 30, 2007 10:31 pm

So I noticed there were no threads on the Bachman Books yet, save one on The Long Walk, so I decided to make one.

Just for reference, the Bachman Books are as follows:

-Rage (1977)
-The Long Walk (1979)
-Road Work (1981)
-The Running Man (1982)
-Thinner (1984)
-The Regulators (1996)
-Blaze (2007)

It has been said that before Bachman was outed, King was planning to release Misery as a Bachman book, so that could be considered an unofficial Bachman Book. Also, Blaze was technically written before any of them (even Carrie) but was only recently revised and published. Just some things to keep in mind.

So, things to discuss:

What is your favorite Bachman Book?
Which ones have you read?
Do you like them better than regular King books?

My favorite Bachman book was The Regulators. Awesome book!

I have read all but blaze.

I like them about the same as far as the stories go. There have only been two writers who have been able to pull me into their books and make me feel as though I was living the story. One of them is Stephen King/Richard Bachman the other is V C Andrews. I know big difference but her original books just got me hooked and well the rest is history.

WOOT, first reply. hehehe

My favorite is Rage. It's just so psychological and all that. I was thinking how Rage is like the Stephen King version of the breakfast club which happened to come out 18 years before. Lol.

I've read all of them.

In their own way they are just as good if not better. They're darker and all that. They have fewer happy endings. I haven't read them in a while except for Blaze, which was somewhat recent.

Thinner was my favorite, although I read and enjoyed all of them. Be careful what you wish for.
