Welcome to the introduction to my Moongazer clan consisting of Hazalinia, her little sister Bladenia, and their cousin Talen.
This starts after Bladenia has run away to join her sister who has been living alone for about a year. Talen has followed his cousin thinking the whole thing just an outing at least in the begining. While they hunt for Hazalinia, Haz steps out to hunt for dinner.

A lone kylandrei exited her cavern home. Moonlight gleamed off of her silvery stripes while her dark blue base coat blended with the shadows. She sniffed the air and let her breath out with a huff. "Another cold night but at least there's no more snow," she said conversationally. "Yes, there's quite enough snow already on the ground," she replied to her own comment. She stood there returning to silence, again sniffing the air; then the silence was broken by a slight rumbling. "Yes I know I better find something to eat," she said looking down at her grumbling belly. With a toss of her head she trotted forward blending into the play of shadows and moonlight.

"Nia do you have any idea where you're going?" Talen whined. It was dark and cold and he was tired. He couldn't understand why his cousin insisted on traveling at night.

"I have an idea what direction Haz said she'd go. She told me about this hotspring she found but I don't know how far," Bladenia replied patiently. She'd reached the point two days ago when she was acctually glad of her cousin's company in spite of his whining. Unlike Haz and Nia's parents, Talen's had spoiled him rotten. She was proud of his progress and hoped Haz would notice the improvement in him and not be too annoyed with his pressence.

The two kylan cubs had been traveling for a week now moving further and further from the territory claimed by their old clan, an extended family originating with their great grandparents. They tended to be a very closed off group shunning most outsiders. The adults would travel with their young when they felt they were old enough to find mates.

Hazalinia and Bladenia were not the first more independently minded kylandrei to be born into the clan, or even the first to run from it. They were however probably the youngest and Talen was the first male. Within the clan the males were spoiled and cherished since for some reason there were much fewer of them.

Talen had basked in the attention and affection at home. Close in age he'd always been attached to his cousin Bladenia. It didn't take him long to realize how different things were for her. Now that he was traveling he realized also the disadvantages of his own treatment; he hardly knew how to care for himself. He was learning though. Bladenia was a patient teacher and such lessons kept them occupied during the otherwise tedious travel.

The small crescent shaped pond was covered in ice but still Hazalinia made her way there in her search for food. She took note of the tracks leading to a fresh hole in the ice. A deer had come and gone but there was so sign of smaller prey. Haz took advantage of the drinking hole, taking a few sips of the too cold water. The rumbling in her belly reminded her of the thus far unsuccessful hunt. It was getting colder as the night progressed. She did have some dried berries and nuts stored in her cave but she needed some meat.
"Some fish might be nice."
"I'd just have to open this a little more and wait. Its so cold though." In spite of this argument Haz opened the whole wider, rearing and striking with her forepaws to crack the ice then prying pieces away with her horns. It would take time for any fish to get close to the spot again so Haz did what she could to warm up, trotting around the pond.

Hershey awoke to the crackle of ice. "What the..." he grumbled opening his eyes to peer down from his perch in a tree overlooking a crescent shaped pond. The winged kylan stretched out and watched the silver striped female as she opened a hole in the ice. "Is fish on the menu for the evening perhaps?" he said to himself, now fully awake. Hersh got comfortable and just watched Haz admiring the play of moonlight off her stripes. "There are worse ways to be awakened..." he said with a grin.

Ever have the feeling you're being followed, even though the one going in the same direction is in front of you? Well that's exactly how Diayna was feeling in regards to the two young kylandrei whose trail she kept finding. A rustle of leaves behind her caused her to jump, whirling around her tail twitching. A squirrel raced from the leaf bed that had rustled at its crossing and up the tree, stopping once to chitter loudly at the brown and gold kylan. "Well don't make so much noise," she huffed returning to her walk.
She'd traveled through this area before and new there were lots of streams and ponds. She needed some fresh water, eating snow wasn't cutting it anymore. With a shiver she reached down and pulled up her leg warmers with her teeth glad of the extra warmth they gave her.

Talen walked closer to Bladenia frighten of the noises coming from behind them. "What was that?" he asked.
"I don't know Talen, but I think we're getting close," she paused and sniffed about. Looking intently at the trees she finally spotted what she'd been looking for a scratched area resembling a crescent moon next to an oval representing an eye. "We've made it cousin, look its her mark," Bladenia said pawing at the marking.
The young male looked at it and sniffed. There was a slightly familiar scent about the spot which raised his hopes as the mark alone could not have. "Ok lets move a little faster, I don't like the sound of whatever is behind us..." For the first time in the long journey, Talen set the pace...

I'm just going to cut this off since I was only replying to myself and Bladenia and Talen have since reach adulthood. Needless to say they find Haz and the clan begins to form.
