God made everything. Everything that he saw he called it “good,” everything but the fact that Adam was alone. But was Adam alone? Didn’t he have God? Didn’t God walk and talk with him in the Garden in the cool of the day? Why did he need a help meet? Did God realize that his love would not be efficient enough to satisfy Adam? Was there something there that some company could do that God could not do for Adam? Did God need a buffer just incase he got sick of Adam?

He saw that Adam would indeed need someone to share his happiness with. God had equipped Adam with a full array of emotions and the power to feel each one just as God himself felt it. The bible speaks of in varied places of the excitement of the reward “Sharing in the Master’s happiness” God is a supreme being and he even desires companionship. He rejoices as well as weeps. It is a part of His sovereign character. As we were made in his image we inherited the desire for sharing.

As God shared himself, we desire to share ourselves as well. As he desires to lead us, we desire to lead others et cetera. God has given Adam his counter part Eve, not only because he knew that they would physically fit well together, but he knew that Adam, made in the likeness of God would soon crave to share his joy, his wisdom, his passions and the ability to give life. He placed Eve in Adam’s path because Adam was fully equipped with those desires. It is how God made Him.

How awful would it have been if God had given Adam the ability to feel and the desire to share, but no one to share it with? God also knew that this miraculous gift of choice he had given Adam would cause him to fall away from the unique closeness of God that he had once had.

The bible says that whenever there are two or more gathered in God’s name that he would be in the midst. Why is it that we are so focused on the individual and singular actions of independence? The things we have in our culture to show adulthood coming-of-age are personal achievements. They are by far not inclusive of community.

In America, when you become ‘mature’ you are considered independent. You are autonomous, self sufficient. We praise the ability to go it alone. We glorify relationships only if they are sexual (or have the potential to be sexual). People, who are made in the image of God who are seeking to share themselves, have lost the how-to. The only socially acceptable way to be intimate with someone is to have physical intimacy with them. Anything else would look and be considered unnatural, sick, and still sexually charged.

We have handicapped the holiness of the kiss, the hug and the holding of hands. With all of our orifices plugged by social implications we flood out of the one hole that has been left wide open. We are stripped of our senses. We are stripped of our emotions. We are left to ration the rest of what we do have into neat and special capitalist occasions.

The name of love has been so defiled that generations of people are confused beyond measure. They are empty and longing for the companionship that God ordained. Plugged by the standards of American culture, they are shoved into a world of lust. They seek affirmation, physical affection, encouragement and so forth. And because those things can only come from some one who wants to be intimate with you and only has one experience with the kind of intimacy that is alright, they seek that out.

God created more than Adam because he saw the joy and the gifts that we could share with each other. He created us to desire relationships in a holy way, as he desires us in a holy way. The only reason why America is so lonely is because they think that the loneliness can only be filled by someone with whom they can be physically intimate with because that is all that they know. This is not so. God has given us the ability to commune with him in an intimate way: when we are gathered together with hearts that are pure, we have access to the Holy God. This is true love and companionship.

Haha, you know some of it already sweatdrop

Basically, I have lived my whole life in search of a close relationship. I tried to fill it with desires for physical relations, but even when I was in a relationship, there was something missing. It was the intimacy of God.

Even when I got really close to someone I would always get a crush on them. Male and Female exclaim

It was the only explaination to me to express my deep feelings. My love for the one closest to me according to American culture said that I must have romanitc feelings in order to love the fullest way However, this is not God's way. He calls us into a holy love that does not have to be defiled by the flesh. My love for my female friends and male friends was not romance, but Compassion from the Living God.

That could be confusing. Ask me questions.

Hey, those songs for the midget set (I used to be a Sunday School teacher) are usually dead on, sweet, simple and to the point.

I entirely agree with all of this sis. It is an awful shame that the US perverts things like that. In fact, I've told people for a long time that one of our biggest problems is that we worship sex, but that we also act like it is horrible at the same time. It does not have it's proper place. it is just a fact of life, that's it, that's all. It doesn't deserve to be put on a pedestal, nor does it deserve to be considered 'dirty'. It's just simple biology. This double-mindedness I believe, is what is behind much of the rapes and violence that happen here. There is FAR less of that in country's where sex has it's proper place. Most of those countries are also ones where innocence prevails and adult men can walk hand in hand, or two adult women without being considered 'gay'.

Yes. Priorities messed up, holy love defiled. Ah... I had my eyes dialated today so it is hard to look at this computer screen. There is more I want to say, but dang, this screen is bright!

Also, Sleepy. Geh.

My question is how do we fight this defilment of love and return it to the blessing it should be?

...without causing others to stumble ...or letting our good being "evil spoken of"?
