But What About Characters?

A character is who you are in the role play. It is who you are when in-character in that role play. Having a good quality character is very important, as otherwise, you either get bored, or other people get angry with you. This is a simple section on how to make a quality character.

there is a basic outline to most profiles
the common sections are as follows
Name
Age
Race
Bio
Powers/Abilities
Weapons
Personality
Appearance
Other Notes
Some profiles may want more, or less information, but these are the most common sections.
each one of these sections should be completed to the best of your ability. Name meaning both first and last and sometimes nicknames, age being not ONLY what your character LOOKS, but how old they REALLY hare, race, if not a common one, including an explanation, things of that sort. also, there should be NO blank areas, at least fill them in with a "unknown"

Examples




it is not hard to add a little detail to your character, even something this short is better than leaving areas blank. You can make a profile as detailed as you like. But the fewer holes you leave, the less people are able to modify your character in ways you may not want.

When making a character, you must also consider the role play. Does the character fit into the theme? if they're a heavy-duty traveler, they must have quite a reason to settle down in one specific town, or at a boarding school. completing the profile in detail also supplies YOU with a reference. Can't figure out exactly how the character would react to something said? take a look at their background and personality, it will almost always help you come up with ideas. it also makes it easier to tell other characters about their past, when you can pretty much just summarize the bio, rather than having to make it longer.
