My doggie khan, ever since I got him from a local rescue centre we've been inseperable, he's an alsatian x collie (we think) and in the past couple of years we must have travelled about 2000 miles to demo's together. He is special because he befriends practically EVERYTHING, he shares a bed with my housemates kitten and back when I had a rat they used to play together. He is also special because he's never been trained as a support dog but he still looks after me ( I am autistic with a tendency towards panic attacks in harsh social situations) and when I have a drop attack (kinda like an epileptic siezure ut instead of spasms it causes collapse followed by paralysis while remaining concious for anything up to half an hour at a time.) he stands over me and guards me until he knows I'm ok and back on my feet and even then walks extra close so I can grab him if my legs buckle. One time my housemate called me up at a demo he couldn't attend to tell me khan had caught a frog, turns out e HAD caught it completely uninjured and brought it into the house to show off when he let it go it was still alive if a lil confused ^^.

That's a sweet story. ^-^ I read an article a few weeks ago about a mother and son dog pair who escaped their owner's yard near a highway in NYC. The mother was hit by a car (survived, though) and was too injured to get up. The son stood around her and tried to fend off anyone who came near - person or vehicle.
There was one time that I was walking my horse in from the pasture. He's usually great going into his stall - just walks in and turns around. This time, he went halfway in and just stopped. Wouldn't budge. I couldn't figure out why until a few seconds later, when one of the barn cats who'd apparently been in his path came jogging out the stall door. He loves cats, for some reason, and he thinks dogs are funny. The barn dogs started barking at him once (just more an alert than a mean bark - the main barn dog is a beagle mix and very vocal with any emotion), and Foxy did this playful toss of his front hooves at them like he was ready to go have fun! =)
