I saw screenshots/plot info/etc regarding Killzone, and I am interested....however, many people said Killzone (on PS2) wasn't a good game, and don't understand the hype with future release of Killzone 2.
Since I have a PSP, and will be a couple months before I get a PS3, should I invest in Killzone Liberation? Is it a good game? Will I miss out on a lot if I didn't play the first one?

Rent it if you can. You told me (in talking about DS games) it's best to try it if you can before spending a lot of money on it. I'll return the advice. mrgreen

The original Killzone was destand to be the Halo killer. But as you already know, that was not true. But many people have high hopes that Killzone2 will actually be the true Halo killer.

Even though the main Halo series is now over...
Try the demo, if you like it then buy it or rent it. It should be pretty cheap by now.

I liked the first one personally, not quite a Halo killer, but not bad by any means. Liberation was extremely well done though, good fighting system, solid story and a continuation of the first Killzone which left you on a horrible cliff hanger.

Part-Time Viking I liked the first one personally, not quite a Halo killer, but not bad by any means. Liberation was extremely well done though, good fighting system, solid story and a continuation of the first Killzone which left you on a horrible cliff hanger. Which left room for a killzone 2 continuation.

I loved Killzone 1.
Liberation got mixed reviews. X-PLay gave it a 2 out of 5 but I think PSM gave it around an 8. So I say rent it.

The first game was decent for a console FPS. Lacked some functionality that should be standard (like jumping) and had horrible sniping. It had some bugs, and definite framerate issues thanks to hardware limitations.
Rent it. A family member bought the game for me when it came out. The guns were interesting and the plot engaging enough to see it through. The rest... well I was playing Half-Life 2 at the time and that pretty much speaks for itself. Hard to appreciate something when you've got something infinitely better to play.

I own Killzone and Killzone: Liberation. Liberation is excellent for a PSP game, but gets old fast, but that's probably just me. Killzone on the otherhand, is one of my favorite games on the PS2, and while it may not be better than Halo, if you can look past some flaws, it makes a decent attempt.
