i've been playing trumpet for two years now and as far as one octive scales, i got them down, but i find it hard to haldle the double octive ones, i find my selve running out of air also at the two second highest notes on all the double octives, i cant make out the notes (cant get the note to a super high pitch like the highest note i think its g or c) i wet my lips but i cant buzz it. my band instruter in my school says its bc i dont put in enough air, and im working on breathing exercises does anyone have any suggestions for more chanlenging breathing exercises.....also can it also be bc i need a better mouthpeice, bc im usic a 7c one at the momment

whoa now i play on a 7c and i can reach the high notes just as well as any other trumpet player. A good breathing exersize is taking a metronome and putting it at the time of about 60 and blowing without your instrument and taking as big a breathe as possible and blowing out. Then theres also long tones and the remmington exersizes. they help with holding out notes, and reaching from a higher octave to a lower octave for jumps in music. usually just going from b flat to b flat works just fine. ^_^ and if you want to get the note that high you just have to practice playing that high normally, but i advise you not blow your chops doin that.

7c's are designed for high notes so don't switch mouthpieces. You'll get immediate results for about 3 days then you lose your range with a 5c. Tell me, do you get a ring around your lips after playing a while?

Okay, from my 8 years of playing trumpet, one of the best things I can say for building your range up is long tones. Lots and lots of long tones. Also don't just try playing up high. Another great thing to do is play down low. Learn to play nice strong clean petal tones. One last thing to do for breathing exercises is either look up the "Breathing Gym" on your own or ask your teacher about that. It has amazing techniques to build up your air. I currently can hold a concert Bb for about 1:45 on average.

Also one thing I would suggest is switching to a bach 3C mouth piece. That is probably the most common amongst profession players. But I would ask your teacher or your private instructor, if you have one, first. They, if anyone, would know if it is time for you to switch. If you are going to switch and you have some money to spend, I would also suggest getting a "Megatone" mouth piece. Great mouth piece for symphonic sounds or a nice band sound. It's a good investment and it'll last you a long time.
