Name: Raajmuat Clan: Ahnleh Clan Position: Alpha Mate: -- Offspring: --
Personality: A very bitter banthi, Raajmuat is hard to talk with and even harder to get to know. Though, for most he is seen as a banthi out for revenge, but if they knew the real truth then they'd know that this was a false portrait of Raajmuat. His bitter attitude and cold remarks are all an act as he is actually a soft natured banthi in the inside. He only opens up to those that he is close to, most will never get to know his story. He trusts others very little and it takes a long time for him to even begin to trust others. This doesn't apply to females though, as he has a natural dislike against the gender for what they did to him in the past. He sees them as seductresses that don't care about anyone but themselves. For him to actually trust a female, that takes a lot of time on the female's part as his barrier is rather hard to get passed.
Upon first glance, Raajmuat might look like a monster and not a banthi, but that is far from the truth. The Basilisk might be blind to the visual world, his other scenes are far superior than a normal banthi. He is able to hear extremely long distances; feel the smallest tremer through touch; detect a scent that is so faint that others would swear he was crazy. While he is blind and others might underestimate him, he is not to be underestimated under any circumstance! . He knows how to manipulate and get his way quite easily and is not at all soft about placing his will on others. A pet peeve of his is being considered a handicap and unable to do anything a normal banthi can do. Just because he has no sight doesn't mean he is incapable in doing normal, everyday activities such as hunting, battling, swimming, etc.
Background: So much to put here....I'll have to gather it all together and put it here later. ^^

(PRP betwen Tethra & Raajmuat) Tethra A crisp wind rustled what was left of the dry grasses in the plains below, her sandy eyes watching the blades sway as her thoughts drifted absent-mindedly in far off directions. Her striped pelt held off the chill of the breeze but it was hard to keep still on such a cool day atop the unforgiving rocky surface of the mountainside. So long she'd sat in silence like a sentinel over land that wasn't hers to watch over, an alien in a territory she struggled to feel welcome in. Her joints were stiff from the effort of motionlessness but inside she was torn with restless wanderlust. Some things never changed, even as time passed on in the ageless wild. The wind picked up in a gust again and her leathery wings fluttered at the stimulation.
A thought quietly turned to another, a friend. She wondered what he was doing right about now. Raajmuat Time had passed by rather slowly, but Raajmuat did everything in his power to keep himself busy. Each day made him more proud of what he's accomplished. The clan was thriving, even if it was small. That would change over time, he told himself quietly. With the coming of a new season just on the horizon, life would flourish just as it should. As the breeze rustled past him, he couldn't help but pick up on Tethra's scent. So Raven was about afterall. The basilisk couldn't help but let that slippery grin slowly etch it's way along his features. His milky eyes landed on nothing in particular before he decided to slowly make his way to where the female was resting. Even if his strong dislike for females was still there, Tethra had proven herself to him, in his eyes, that she was at least a little trustworthy. Although, his pride would not let him announce that to her anytime soon, her company was a breath of fresh air and would do him some good, whether he'd admit that to himself or not.
He carefully make his way through the mountainside, it wouldn't do him any good to get in a tight squeeze right now. As her scent came to him stronger than before, he tested the waters to see exactly where she was. 'The land must be a sight to see at a time like this.' Tethra A chill passed down her spine as she heard the familiar, low voice of the basilisk male. She let a small sigh escape her nostrils as she didn't answer at first, admittedly struggling to find so much to say... or was there too much? The breeze died down thankfully for the time being, allowing the wind-tossed fur on the female's shoulders to settle back into place if not for only a little while. "It oddly falls short" She replied plainly, keeping her eyes on the sights down below. The colours were truly beautiful in all their natural shimmering hues of a mild winter but she couldn't bring herself to enjoy it.
After a moment of silence she digressed as she turned her self around to face Raajmuat, out of respect. To any other male alike her father, she would never be so delicate to avoid insulting them. "The grasses are almost gone, either muddy or eaten by grazing animals, but what's left is a brilliant gold. The trees somehow managed to keep a solid grip on some shades of green, it seems.... in case you were wondering." She glanced down at the rocks underfoot, shifting the digits in her forepaws to flex out the cold stiffness. Raajmuat His paws detected the slight movements that Tethra made and thus, Raajmuat headed in that direction. Upon hearing her reply he couldn't help take it all in. He could feel emotions radiating off the female, but he was so inadequate when it dealt with the opposite gender. Perhaps that was one of his downfalls. Regardless, it was just too hard for him to open up to the opposite sex, his history made him very hard to trust. With Tethra's sifting in his direction, he made his way close to her side. The mountainside was rather cool to the touch, it had been a lot colder many moons ago, but most of the worst had passed. Or at least, the basilisk had hoped so.
'I could just imagine. Things rarely seem to fall close. It makes me wonder if I'm actually cursed by my lack of sight, or blessed.' Talakin would be rather proud of him, he knew the cornsnake wanted him to open up to others. As hard as it is, he needed to be at least a little emotionally attached to his members or else they'd just leave him. Being alone is not something he wanted to experience ever again. He was curious about the female, he knew very little about her. But her voice made him wonder. There was something there that he could relate to, or perhaps he was just imagining it because that'd make it better for him. 'Do you miss your home, Raven?' He rested down against the ground, placing his head on his paws as his pale, milky eyes gazed forward onto the eternal darkness he was subjected to. With Tethra's descriptions, he tried to paint them in his head. Tethra Tethra watched him move, always amazed at how agile he was despite his apparent complete lack of sight. She figured his other senses must be kicked into high-gear, leaving him in some state of awareness she couldn't comprehend. Waiting until he settled, she turned her back to the world below and crouched down until her limbs curled daintily under her plush belly. "Yea." She scoffed at his comment, though it managed to produce a small smile.
Tilting her head to the side, she listened to his question and chuffed a short, humorless laugh. "No... heh.... no." With a small shake of her cranium she continued only tentatively on the subject, her voice growing cold but soft with memory. "I used to love that place so much..... I messed up a lot there though. Its definetly lost its spark." She pondered for a moment before deciding to ask her own question. "Have you ever traveled far North before?" Raajmuat An ear flicked in Tethra's direction as Raajmuat could feel her shifting weight once more, perhaps it was to get comfortable, perhaps it was to get warm from the chill. But regardless, he heard her words and took them in carefully. Things apparently didn't appear to be well with where she was from and he couldn't blame her. Things had been difficult for him. It left him scared not only physically but mentally. He bore the brunt of his abuse and thus, it had left him the way he was now. His serpentine tail curled around him slightly before he turned his head to let his milky gaze land on her.
Her question made him curious. He paused to think about it. Had he been to the North? Perhaps he had, he's been to a lot of places but they all kind of meld together. 'Perhaps I have. In the very least, I could not tell you what it looked like now,' He paused as his eyes kind of glazed over slightly, getting lost in a thought. 'My mother took me on one of her travels a long time ago. Even though she wasn't really supposed to, she feared leaving me behind with the rest of the clan. The landscape was rather beautiful, so full of life...' His voice trailed off softly in nostalgia. It was then that he realized he was talking to Tethra and not Talakin. It had been rather easy to let a soft side of him show, a side he tried to keep locked away from others. He didn't want to be hurt. His placed his paw forward on the cool ground, letting it soak into his paw. As the warmth had left him, his thought about the female next to him. While there were other females here, none knew his real name. None were here as long as Talakin and Tethra was. Their initial meeting had been anything but kind. But that was not to be expected from him. The sounds the wind made against the female were different sounding than the sounds that Talakin made or even his mate.
'I should think that you are rather restless being bound to the ground with little purpose to fulfil,' He paused to raise his head fully to rest his milky gaze on Tethra, 'Do you wish for a purpose here?' Tethra Tethra's eyes were trained on the male as she listened in wonder like a small cub listening to the grandiose stories weaved by her father who, at the time, was beyond any sort of fault or imperfection. She wondered about so many aspects of Raaj's old clan. It seemed so alien to her, their schools of thought and the way they regarded each other within the clan. The fact that Raaj's mother was afraid to leave her son with the rest of the clan gave her the impression that perhaps there was an air of distrust that ran through the old clan, or somesort of individual apprehension even while being amongst a tightly-knit group. This contrasted greatly in her mind, coming from a clan very devoted to the gentle, loving protection and somewhat harsh obedience of a familial group. She wasn't shocked or unsettled by this though, it only proved to intrigue her further. She wanted to much to ask more questions but she was weary of the alpha's patience. It was a difficult path to where she now stood - or rather lay - within this new clan. It would be absolutely soul-crushing to somehow mess it all up now... now that she was finally feeling at home somewhere for once.
The male's statement caught her off-guard as she listened curiously, bright tawny eyes trained on his calm features. For some odd reason she feared she was about to be chastised for some unfortunate act but was interested at his proposal. A purpose. What exactly did he mean? The word seemed much too elaborate for what she was feeling, if by some chance he was attempting to reach out to her troubles. he'd find that a difficult task if he did try, as the real demons taunting her within were confusedly lost to her as well. "A purpose?" She echoed her thoughts, achingly curious to hear his idea. "Like what?" Raajmuat Her curiosity, he could feel it radiate off of her. Raajmuat couldn't help but grin inwardly to have her full attention. The basilisk was sure she had plenty of questions she was itching to ask. He would too, if he was in her position. But, while he wouldn't give her all the answers she desired right now, he wouldn't mind delving into some sooner than others. Not all things are as satisfying knowing at once. Plus, it helps to keep the interest in the area just a little bit longer. With his milky eyes focused on her, he replied, 'You've been here for quite some time. I've been secretly testing you, trying to see if you are worthy to being here. But I dare say, you're surely passed any test I could think of to put against you. Therefore, I should think that by living here, it would help you to become an active role in the clan.' He had tried and tried again to reason with himself while he should have gotten rid of the female so long ago, but she had followed his rules, listened to his rages and rants, there was nothing in his mind that justified him making her leave. Therefore, if she was to stay here, she needed to have a place in the clan. A job for her to do to help the clan grow and prosper.
Talakin has a job here, two roles that the cornsnake plays here. But Tethra, she has none. The basilisk has been mulling for some time before he had found something that could be suitable for the female. He didn't want to place her in a job that would insult her, since she was not in the least bit weak. With a bitter smile, 'As the clan knows, I am unable to see. As much as I pray for this to be resolved, I know I can't change back time to reverse what has already been done. Therefore, I need assistance.' He paused before continuing, 'I need eyes, someone I can look through to see what's going on. Someone who can scout the land, keep an eye on the members, and give me advice when I need it.' As much as he would not like to admit it, taking care of a clan was not something he was so natural in doing, therefore any help he could muster would be put to use. 'In the old clan, everyone had a job...a purpose that they lived for within the clan. That's what helped kept the clan going.' Tethra Rabid Jigglypuff The winged hyena followed on cautiously, unsure of where the male was taking this conversation. It came as no surprised to her when Raaj admitted to constantly testing to her nature against the qualities of a valued member of his clan, he just seemed like the type to take precautions with every step, understandably. She was taken aback however, by the slight hint of acceptance in the male's tone. Had she really proven her best to him without even knowing it? It surprised her that she'd managed to keep her head attached to her shoulders let alone impress the alpha of the clan. Words couldn't describe the feeling as she continued to listen.
Was he really trusting her? This self-sufficient beast strengthened by hardships? He needed her assistance, he said. Her abilities. He needed her. Well... perhaps she was taking this all a little too seriously but to be told she was somehow NEEDED... well... she was onboard.
Tethra fought back hard all the urges to spout of the first words that came to mind. Somehow "thank you" didn't seem to suffice in a situation as this one. Without pausing too long in case she gave him the wrong impression, the female answered promptly. "I'd be honored to fulfill a purpose in this clan.... truly." Her words were quiet and uncharacteristically softened by emotion as some feeling churned within. Never would she have this responsibility in her old clan. Never would she be considered greatness, an asset to the group. The idea of being counted upon for tasks only she could perform made her lightheaded. Raajmuat Ears flicked slightly as Raajmuat listened to her words, hearing the sincerity in them. It helped to calm his fears, that perhaps he was making the right step with Tethra. There was a nice feeling about all of this, something similar to what his mother had described it to him as. Though, at that time he couldn't fully understand the meaning since he was not really wanted by his father, nor by the clan for fear of bringing misfortune on them. His tail flicked slightly as he turned his head back towards the outlook where they were residing. 'I am glad to hear that, Raven. As much as I'd like to have Young Snake do everything for me, it would be unkind of me to ask so much of him. Therefore, it would only be appropriate to start handing out some responsibilities to those who have proven themselves.'
The cool breeze rustled once more, sending a chill down his spine. The air did seem to be cooling down just a bit, the day wasn't too far from coming to a close. The nights were cold, not very much to his liking but that's just the way that nature worked. He rested his head back on his paws once more, closing his eyes against the crisp breeze. The view was the same for him either way. Unsure of what else to say to Tethra, he had lapsed into a small silence, letting the female take everything in. Slowly, he opened his eyes to turn them back towards Tethra. He wondered what she looked like. What Talakin looks like or any of his other clan members who he knew by many different means other than what they looked like. Tethra Tethra nodded slowly, understanding Raaj's reasoning for choosing another to place responsibility on. With all the talk of Talakin, she wondered how the orange snake came to be so close to the basilisk. She recalled that he too had originated from Feral Clan but had dismissed himself sono after to join Ahnleh. Amon had granted him an honorable parting... perhaps he might grant that on his daughter when the time came. Somehow she couldn't see the bitter old man understanding her reasoning and subsequently giving her the reassurance and consolement of an honorable leaving, no matter how much she daydreamed of the possibility.
The hyena found herself falling silent once again as Raaj seemed to comfortably rest amongst the cold stone of the rocky mountain. He looked so at ease in such a posture, almost losing his tough exterior for just a moment or two. It was not enough to convince her it was alright to draw near, however. She'd keep her respectful distance.
"I'll leave you to the wind, then." She mumbled with a smile. "I've had enough of this chilly ledge for now. The wind's making me restlessness enough as it is." The female rose the step around the male and return to the shelter of the inner caverns, a small glance over her shoulder at his laying form once again as she passed.

(PRP between Raajmuat & Reika) Raajmuat Tongue licked the blood away from his maw as Raajmuat had finished eating some time ago. This had been one of those easier kills for him, that was for sure. With his back towards the wind, his head was raised high to test the air. The basilisk wanted to know if there were others around. While he might have his sight, that didn't mean he was incapable of doing simple things. His serpentine tail flicked slightly as he was feeling rather good at the moment. Things were starting to look up and stablize with the clan. It wouldn't be long before he needed to set up the ceremony for the deities. Their festival was going to be coming up rather quickly.
The forest was off in the distance, instead of hunting the forest like he normally did, Raaj wanted to test the other side of the lands. The lands on the other side of the temple were rather grassy with trees scattered here and there. While he couldn't quite get a good mental image of what the landscape looked like, he'd have to get that detail later. With a flick of his tail, he cleaned up the remains of his meal from his face before turning back to investigate his lands. Reika The air around her was chill and empty, the breath of the clouds quickly brushing past her taking her scent with but it didn’t seem to bother her for her body had gone numb many hours ago. She had been there for most of the day just sitting there staring heavenward, almost as if in some sort of trance. If not for the soft crunching of the frosty grounds she might have still been in the trance-like state she had been in for most of the day.
Flicking golden eyes downward she caught sight of a small mouse bouncing about the fields of grass and frost without much of a care and very oblivious of the large banthi in the tree above. A small smile curled as she continued to watch the small mouse playfully scout about the area. “Your so very lucky young mouse, for if I had been hungry I would not be enjoying the sight of you I would be devouring you.” She smiled again at the mouse before letting herself fall from the twisted limb of the tree scaring the mouse back into its burrow below the surface of the earth.
“You are most lucky…” Raajmuat Faint vibrations made Raajmuat stop in his tracks. While they were faint, they were also near by. His head was raised high in the air, getting a good whiff of the air around him. Who was about? He wondered silently. It took some time before he detected any sort of scent. But that scent was something very familiar to him. Reika. A serpentine grin slowly traced it's way along his maw as his tail flicked slightly. Talakin did mention his one daughter to him countless times, he even met her quite a long time ago. But that was some time ago. Curious as to what she was up to, the basilisk made his way in the female's direction. It was always good to know what others were up to, plus, he could always be an extra set of eyes for Talakin. Afterall, females were very devious.
With a bit of traveling, Reika's scent had gotten quite strong. With a silky voice, he spoke to the female. 'My, my. Aren't we a bit far from home?' Perhaps it was to tease her. Perhaps it was to chide her. Whatever the female took his words for, he would be the last to do anything parental in that regards. He was not a parent, nor did he see himself being one any time soon. Rather, he had hoped to get to know the female a bit better. It was nice to have a relationship with every member. Reika She had been paying very little attention to her surroundings when she heard the whisperings of another whom sounded far too familiar for her to ignore. It was upon turning that she was soon grateful for not ignoring the individual who did speak. Fighting a small smile the female stared at him for several minutes allowing every syllable to sink into her skull. ’Am I truly that far out?’ the female couldn’t help but muse as she looked at the green serpent blankly before raising her eyes further to look across the lands. ‘I guess I am.’ she thought silently to herself as she scanned the area.
“I did not mean to come out as far as I did actually, it was the winds that were calling me and I had to listen to them.” She looked back towards the male and sighed softly. She really did hope that she did not upset the Alpha by being so far out. “If I did worry you, or my father for that matter, I am most sorry.” it was her front paws that she was now staring at for she was most ashamed for not thinking things through fully.
‘I didn’t bring shame to the rest of the family due to my leaving did I?” She thought as she continued to stare at her front paws only to be interrupted by the soft sounds of the nymphs of the wind. “The sound is most beautiful….” She spoke softly as she closed her eyes and held her head high to listen. “Do you not think so? Almost like voices..”
Raajmuat Ears perked forward as Raajmuat listened to Reika's words. His tail flicked slightly as he replied, 'I would say that you are, as I have been wandering the borders of the territory for some time. I've been trying to get a good feel for the land and what it holds for us.' He couldn't help but to muse silently about the female. She was the first cub to live here in the temple, clearly showing that the clan was successful enough to raise cubs. He could sense that she was embarrassed at being caught, and perhaps, shamed? The basilisk walked closer to where Reika was and let his milky gaze fall on her. 'You've done nothing wrong to bring about my displeasure or your family. You are old enough to know where you can and cannot go. I trust you to make wise decisions, but to just be aware that there could be unfriendly faces about. The last thing that I would want is something happening to any of my clanmates.'
The wind? Now this was quite an interesting turn of events. He couldn't help but let a sly smile slowly inch its way along his facial features. Reika had yet to have a specified job within the clan, and becoming of age, she needed a place within the clan for herself. 'I am rather intriqued now. It is not often that one hears voices in the wind. What do you hear?' There were many ways to interpret the signs the deities leave them. Reika She looked up at him and smiled then, at least she had not dishonored her family and brought anger to her Alpha, that would be the last thing she needed right now. Looking into his milky eyes Reika searched them then looked towards the sky and the waited. What did those simple whispers have to say? She couldn’t really understand, for her ears could only make out faint murmurings and even then, they seemed to be in a language she did not speak nor understand, not fully anyway. Looking back towards the basilisk she flicked her tail slightly and sighed.
“I do not understand what they say. I just know they are there and no matter how faint I can still hear them.” Her smile was back then as she looked towards the sky, no matter how empty the world seemed to be those playful voices in the wind were all she needed to know she wasn’t truly alone. “ I do not know though.. I do believe I have caught some sort of disease because it seems I can only hear them most of the time. Maybe it is due to my rather weak sense of smell?” She mused on her thoughts for a bit and came up on nothing. There was no logical reason as to why she was hearing voices in the wind. Maybe he mind was making it up, maybe she was truly loosing her mind, or maybe.. It was something else entirely.
“I am scared though. Scared to tell anyone of this for I am sure they would think me mad.” She looked at a patch of dead grass as she spoke for she had no courage to look up at her alpha’s face.
Raajmuat Her words surprised him. Raajmuat was surprised that she could hear soft murmurs in the wind. But rather than think her mad, he was very glad to learn of this. Just when he was thinking about the deities, this new development arose. His serpentine tail curled around him, he could sense her fear. It was definitely something that was hard to live with, any many would shun those away. But not him, not someone who's been shunned almost his whole life. 'You shouldn't be scared to tell of such things, much rather to me.' He paused before giving her his serpentine smile, 'It is the ancient language of the snakes that you are hearing. The language is just about dead to the banthis of today, but it was the spoken language to the banthis of my clan.'
He closed his eyes, with his head slightly raised the wind rustled against the pair gently. It was cool, but comforting. Out here in the open, there was a sense of homeliness that came from where you were somewhere that you belonged. Perhaps this was the way that the deities wanted to let them know that this was their chosen place to live afterall. Opening his eyes slowly, milky gaze landed back on Reika, 'It was often said by the priests of the past that the deities often gave us signs to help guide us with our daily lives. But, most banthis couldn't pick up on the simple nuances and thus, those signs would go unnoticed.' He paused before continuing, 'Those banthis who could pick up and decipher the deities' signs were held in high regards. They were the connection between our mundane world and the world of our deities.' He was mulling over some things, trying to decide whether or not would be a good time.[/color Reika Looking up at the Alpha’s face Reika could almost feel tears form in her eyes. She was accepted even if what she could hear was rather strange to most Banthi. It was such a good thing that he had found her when he did, or she would still be sitting on the ground musing about the mouse that she had saw not too long ago. As he spoke more on the subject she could feel the overwhelming feeling of water behind her eyes and before she could stop them from coming they were slowly sliding down her furry white cheeks. So it was the soft murmurings of an almost dead language that she was hearing? How interesting it was to know this. Looking at him intently she spoke with a feeling of purpose building in her chest.
“Will you teach me the language of old? I wish to understand the words of the wind, figure out what they truly mean and maybe even be able to serve some purpose for this clan.” She was smiling now. She had a purpose all because she was ‘crazy‘.
Reika listened intently as Raaj spoke of the deities and the signs that they attempted to give everyone. Did that mean she was hearing whispers from otherworldly beings? She continued her listening and kept thinking why, why could she do it? Was it do to her near drowning when she was still in her gem, or something else entirely? Clawing the ground softly as she thought she finaly looked into Raaj‘s eyes and spoke. “Do you hear the whisperings in the wind Alpha?” the question burned in her. She knew he was highly sensitive as well and she wished to test a theory. Raajmuat The salty scent stung his senses as Raajmuat picked up on Reika's newly formed tears. Something welled in the male, an unknown emotion. Was it discomfort? Or excitment? Whatever it was, the basilisk didn't give much thought to it as he pricked his ears forward in curiosity. Her stare was intense, his whole being could feel her stare. It was times like these where he wished he wasn't cursed with his lack of sight...just like he had been with Tethra not too long ago. Though, her request was a sort of surprise to him. 'I would be lying if I told you that I knew the ancient language fluently. Rather, I was taught as much of it as possible from my mother. My father had forbade her of teaching me the sacred language,' He paused to let out a soft snarl. Memories were still fresh, still burning from within when he thought about that wretched banthi. 'There are some things that I still do not understand with my gaps in the language. But if you are willing, then I cannot deny such a request. Just be aware that it is not easy, it will be a hard task but something very rewarding if you work hard enough. Should you be able to accomplish this, I should feel that you would become a worthy priestess as we are in need of one. A festival is just upon the horizon, things need to be prepared ahead of time for the deities in order for the celebrations to go smoothly.'
Her question brought back many memories. Many of which he wanted to remember, and others not so often. He replied smoothly, 'There are many things that I can hear and feel. I would not deny the fact that the wind does seem to have a way with words, as does the tremors of the earth. It is up to me on how to decipher them, or if I even pick them up at all.' To be continued on a later date!
