OBOE ROXS!!! Ppl say its annoying but there jerks and it's only the beginner oboes who hurt Ur ears. I'm in Symphonic Band and there's only 3 of us there (now 2) and I don't think we sound that bad...I think it sounds cool!

i started playing oboe this year, so that makes in a beginner x]
but i got a higher rating than the oboist in our school's symphonic band,
i simply love playing the oboe, like once i start i just can't stop!
& i dont think its annoying to play the oboe at all!
you just have to enjoy the sound of it 3nodding

i love playing oboe it is so much fun
you should see the only other oboe in my class she almost swolloed the reed twice

Does anyone use plastic reeds?
I saw plastic oboe & bassoon reeds on the internet, selling in the states... "charles' double reed company", i believe. And i want to get one, because I go through a reed a month or so, and my mom complains that i'm breaking my reeds too much. ;-;
Just wanted to know how they are. biggrin Do they sound nice?

Ummm i wouldnt trust plastic reeds, they dont have a nice sound to them =/ u will get a dull boring sound from it >< try to get hand made reeds, those work the best if its built right for ya and plus they sometimes cheaper

Aight thanks. Now i just have to find someone who makes reeds... =P
I'd like to try making my own reeds but my bassoonist friend told me that her teacher says making them take a while.

I'm first chair bassoon out of one. There has never been another bassoon player in my band... which kinda sucks, but it's still cool sometimes.

PsycoDude16 Yea, im a bassoon player. and im one of the last dying breeds in my band sweatdrop theres soooo few double reeds in band now, its making me worried lol. but im in 1st chair cuz im the only one who has played it for hmmmm 7th grade to 11th now. and we just recently had to make a tenor saxaphone into a bassoon player and she has been playing for 1 year now. I knew it!! this is my old banned char, the admins banned me, then the admin that did it got banned himself. So i have no way of unbanning him. Which sucks alot >> but anyways, im back again with this char :p but yea I still am a bassoon player and im a senior now biggrin

I'm a bassoon player... out of six in the band I'm in.
And I love the bassoon. I've played quite a few instruments, and I can not consider any of them to be as awesome as the bassoon.
