I always thought that emo was the slang term for the genre "emotive hardcore" and that you couldn't be emo. You could only like emo.
When in fact "scene" is the style. You can be scene and like emo.
That's what I thought and I wasn't sure because so many people just go on saying "Oh yeah I'm emo," I mean I when people ask me if I'm "emo" I say no because it's impossible to be an inanimate object/genre?
I was just curious, help would be greatly appreciated. ps white text

Technically your right, but then again, saying your emo could actually just mean you subscribe to the lifestyle presented within emo lyrics, in much the same way us metallers, subscribe to the lifestyle present in metal lyrics. smile

Ow. Highlight. Anyways. In my opinion, you are correct. I know "emo" to be short for "emotive hardcore," a music genre. However, I'm getting used to hearing it as a stereotype. Scene is a style.

I think you're correct, emo is the genre, but emo is more commonly known now as 'an emo kid' or something so really it's just people using it in the wrong context.
and must you write in white? I was greatly puzzled as to where your posts in other topics were!
