Alright, and so starts this debate forum, me being the first to start a thread. This isn't a debate, per say, but a set of opinions...feel free to post something here after mine, anyone...and if we've got opposing viewpoints...it's on!
Geese, I'm such a debate junkie. Actually, personally, It gives me joy to start and engage in conflicts of any kind.
So without, further ado, I start this thread with the first "Opening Cross Examination", please post your feelings on the topic of: Religion

Alright, I'm starting, and lemme say I'm going to cry if no one wants to argue...I mean, debate...with me!!!!!
My stand on religion is that there is no god, or divine power, of any sort. The world is just to crazy, the events based on catastrophes and coincidences. Humans, however, share a bond with nature (as in paganism), more specifically, a certain animal (Therianism). I believe in re-incarnation, but no basis for it (as in, your actions in life do not effect what you come out as), because to have that, you would need a God to decide whether or not you were good enough.
I also believe that God was made and intended to give answers to that which cannot be explained. Human being pitifully cling to it as a stability, and once they realize that there is no god, are left naked and stranded, unable to fathom the world with out order. Order is a human trait, not something found naturally. Therefore, God does not exist.
Someone post something...and if we start to debate, we start a new thread...if YOU take initiative and start one, title it "Opposing Wynd" or such other...

Meh, i have very mixed feelings; as I am a practitioner, it's hard to study magick without there being some religion backing it. But, I beleive, in most every god and goddess ever written within a religion, but I don't totally feel like they control our lives, so much as they co-exist within a parralel (sp?), plane of ours.

Wynd Resrect Alright, I'm starting, and lemme say I'm going to cry if no one wants to argue...I mean, debate...with me!!!!! My stand on religion is that there is no god, or divine power, of any sort. Aye aye aye.....Ok, you're just trying to start a ruckus aren't you? *sighs* For starters if you haven't already noticed, it's Therianthropy, not Therianism. And What's to debate? You brought up and opinion, this isn't something to debate. Even Vain did not post something that is debatable, it's opinions you're throwing at each other, not questionable statements. So just back off, and behave. I could have sworn you said something about trying to just sit with it and not retaliate. You can't just rush into things, now is not the time to try getting back. Sure Anton LaVey made good statements about fighting against the church to regain our lost dignity. That we have sat idle for much to long, taken dirt in the face with patience and have endured, BUT we need to think through and contemplate. Wisdom is the best element we have against the Christians since they think they know all.

Selene, my "Field Guide to Otherkin" book, by Lupa, uses Therianism..lol...that's where I got it, and no, debate isn't about picking sides, or about even believing in what your arguing...it's about making a great case and changing people's minds about certain things...there's a good movie out now called "The Great Debaters". You should go see it. Not only is it a great black empowerment film, it also is a great example of truly great debate.

Religion is a touchy subject, also you didn't respond to the latter of what I said.

Alright, Now that I have found someone with an opposing viewpoint (skipping over everything said by Selene)...I'm going to formally invite Vain to create a new thread, titled "Vain vs Wynd", and make an opening statement regarding his view on religion.
Vain Ziler, Wynd Resrect hereby extends a request to engage in a philosophical debate with your person, in the educated topic of religion.

I have to say I disagree with nature not having in sort of order to it. There are many things in nature which follow a structure to them. Birds migrate, as do fish and whales; a baby will grow into an adult; a herbivore will eat plants and a carnivore will eat the herbivore; trees will always grow towards the sun, or where ever the light is. The entire planet is made up of 'natural laws' to use the scientific term for it. Sure, not everything follows the same type of order, but they do have some kind of order. I think chaos is a human invention.
I also believe everything wrong with the world today can be traced straight back to people. Which leads into my other belief that there isn't any sort of god. In my opinion, humans are the worst thing to happen to the world. I believe in the Earth as a living, breathing thing, which fights back against the humans. People are some skewed off branch of life, which should've died out a long time ago, but by some horrible mistake didn't.
