Not to bring a damper on anyone else's delight at the holiday season, but this used to be the holiday I hated the most. xD It's 'cause we don't celebrate Christmas (my family) and so we usually only get presents on our birthdays and one other religious holiday for us.
When you're a kid, of course that's devastating, growing up here. All these kids running around requesting all these cool things for Christmas, that you have to beg to get any other time of the year. No excuses to spoil you at all.
I'm at that age now where I don't get presents at all, not even on my birthday, unless from every close friends. I mean sure, some will buy you a drink, but no real effort.
Actually, two years ago my mom bought me a pan set, knives and all these kitchen utensils. Very useful. xD But it's rare. I think they're just waiting for me to move out soon. >x>'''
Anyway, this thread is for people that don't celebrate Christmas, whether you mind it or not. I actually enjoy the Christmas season-cheaper shopping, an excuse to buy cards (other than Valentine's Day), and a nice long break. Plus, I love watching Christmas movies.
That's not my point. Any other un-Christmasers?

I can't imagine never having Christmas! I mean, I know there is a time when you grow out off it, but NEVER at all??! (I mean it would be different if you celebrated Hanukkah or something else.) Well, as you can see, I'm a Christmas celebrater... xd

Haha, yeah. I guess I've grown to having Christmas-y stuff happening all around me, so I haven't really been without it. It just hasn't been all "get a tree, buy presents, buy cards, organize a big feast" etc. There was one year I wasn't in North America for Christmas. THAT was weird. No snow. Now Christmas lights...no caroling.
But I've always been a non-celebrator. I give out cards though. But I make a point of saying "happy holidays" instead of Christmas. Unless I know they celebrate Christmas.

Mmm, sorry hun, but not here. I don't really celebrate the religious side of Christmas - I mean, I go to church on Christmas Eve to make my mum happy [we've worked out a deal - I'll go peacefully on Christmas Eve, and occasionally Easter Sunday, and she doesn't mention it the other 363 days of the year], but other than that, not for me. I do throw myself into the spirit of Christmas, however. It's my favorite time of year.
*looks apologetic* I'm one of those people who gets kidnapped by all the glitter and happiness. Sorry. sweatdrop I do have a friend who doesn't celebrate Christmas, and I know she feels like you do. It's hard for her around Christmas when all her friends are getting amazing gifts and she's getting nothing. I think when she is older, she'll definitely celebrate it. Or she says she will, anyway.
I just love Christmas. ;_; I'm not helping, am I? I'll send you a present. *nods* Then you can say you got at least one!

No no! Don't worry about it. I said I USED to be like that. I take part in Christmas-y stuff. I just made this thread for people who don't celebrate at all and people who are like me...they sorta celebrate, but they enjoy that they have no real obligations. surprised
It's also for X-mas celebraters, of course. Cheer up those who feel left out. I get taken by the glitter as well. I used to be in all the school plays, pageants and choir things. >x>''' Plus, I love Christmas trees, even if I can't bring one home to decorate. Once I brought home a mini palm tree and decorated it. >] I was a tricky child.
It's a contageous holiday.
Ooh. So this mall-centre downtown had this enormous tree set up (your glitter remark reminded me of this) and it was covered in Swarovski glass products and pretty sparkly, expensive jewellery.
It was gorgeous. I took pictures. I shall post them up later. The funniest part was that it was on a blue stage that spun, like their products do in the little lit, glass showcases.

Yeah, it tends to get to you pretty easily. All the gorgeous light displays and the Christmas trees and yummy sweets and the presents and the generally joy and the music... *dies* Thank god it doesn't come more than once a year! That sounds beautiful! The best trees are the ones that take a long time to do. My mom and I always do ours, and it takes a while. This year, it's done in gold and white, and it looks beautiful. I hope you like your gift.

I loved the gift! =) I shall wear them right away...my inventory takes awhile to load. ]'x
Yeah. Plus, my favourite activities usually involve ice, snow, a warm fire, hot chocolate, books and a lot of free time.
Usually this time of the year. =D

I haven't felt very Christmassy this year :/ Not since my grandma died .-.; But I'm trying to get in the spirit. It's just harder =o=
My mom's side of the family celebrates Hanukkah, so we light a menorah every year, though my dad's side celebrates Christmas. We try to celebrate both holidays but it's a little hard XD

My grandfather's death anni. is around this time of year. It's usually depressing at first, but we ended up celebrating more. I mean, he really lived his life well, so we enjoy for him, if anything. =] Of course, for the first year it was really hard to enjoy, but everyone is allowed to mourn a little.

Me and my family, we celibrate christmas but not in a religous way. We will put up our really pathetic fake tree (It's soooo old and bare), put up decorations, make carmal corn and cookies, buy a few presents, and get together with family to talk and play and have fun but no religousness at all. Sometimes, we pray but that's only for my religous grandmother and aunt and uncle but I don't take part in that. We open presents and thank each other and have a wrapping paper fight.
My cousin is always sad at this time of the year. Her birthday is 2 days after Christmas and our Grandfather died on her birthday. She tries not to show it in front of out little cousins but she is always sad.
I hope everyone has a happy holiday!! It's not about the presents, it's about the joy and cheer of the year!!!

I actually find I enjoy New Year celebrations more. I mean, yes, I loveee the decorations and the trees and they make this part of the year even better...but New Year's celebrations are celebrated by my family as well. So it feels a lot better. And more friends can go out and not stay at home with their families those days. x'D Plus. I love New Year kisses. heart

I'm not much of an 'Enthusiastic' person. Christmas... I 'celebrate' it, but not Religiously (I'm an Atheist, or Agnostic. One of the Two, biggrin (Yes, I know the difference)). Christmas has lost it's value to me, it's too Commercial.
Easter, Halloween, Guy Fawke's... "Bah Humbug".

I <3 Christmas.
Technically, I'm supposed to celebrate it religiously, but I don't. (I'm not atheist, just more like a I'm-Catholic-but-I-just-really-don't-care-enough-to-practice-any-religion-at-all kinda thing.) I do go to church, but I go because my mom makes me, and I wear jeans. Sometimes I serve mass for service hours. But, never once have I been like actually "into" the whole religion thing. Which is sad because I am getting confirmed this February.
Yeah, but I like the music, the candy, the cookies, the ornament, our fake tree (I'm allergic to real ones), presents, and all the cheer. But the most important thing about Christmas is....
BREAK! Oh, how would I like without Christmas break?
