Long story short. The mayor of my hometown agreed to put up a nativity scene ontop of city hall. Others fought to have a pentacle put up there (others being a non-local group). The pent got vandalized and now everyone's saying to take down the nativity scene because it violates the separation of church and state
YAY! I wonder, if the issue came up in your town, what would you do?
(I think this is the 1000th post too wink WOOT)

well, i tihnk the pagans there aren't paying attention to what day it is then, for one it would probably be a better idea to have a SEPERATE display considering the fact that for pagans christmas is on the 21st and yuletide is different from christmas, granted i know full well christmas was a stolen holiday, but as far as christianity and it's stupidity goes, let the babies have thier bottle, at least they aren't killing in the name of and crucifying anymore.

Honestly, I'd look on getting the pentacle put up as a major victory in and of itself. Though it being vandlaized is not an unforseen event, it is a victory none-the-less, and the Pagan and Wiccan community should not be concerned with the Christmas display remaining up while the vandalized display is taken down. Rather, the community should invest thier interests in making sure the vandals are found and prosecuted under the law, just as they would have been if the Nativity seen had been vandalized.
Getting a pentacle put back up is a fight to be made next year, at about the same time 3nodding

A religious icon is to be displayed like that, and equal treatment given to all religious groups; that could get crowded. I say keep the displays restricted to church land and private property; not, for example, Walmart.

and right here in ontario down in ottawa there is the only sanctioned wiccan/pagan temple. supposedly its in an older building, like a wear house and the inside is painted black save for a pure white pentacle painted on the sloor dead center of everything.
