Linky Not worksafe.

So, a reporter supposely went to a clinic and used a hidden camera to show videos of an abortion. The video has now made it to national TV on Spain, and is up there on youtube to watch. Needless to say, the lifers are having a field day over this.

*can't watch, but wouldn't even if she could*
Could somebody describe it for the dial-up havers and the squeamish?

What I wanna know is how the hell she got in there.

"Oh, hi, I'm nobody important. I just wanna stand here and watch an abortion."
"Oh, sure, go right ahead!"

Well, I didn't watch the whole thing, but the reporter talked with nurses and doctors (at least, they're supposed to be nurses and doctors), and they talked and stuff... So... Actually, that may have been it.

ETA: Either that, or those nurses allowed her in. Or something... I need to watch it.

ETA2: OK, apparently, they helped a doctor to "infiltrate" on the clinic by applying to work there, and recorded it with a hidden camera.

You have to log in to see it. Damn I wish I knew spanish or that someone had subtitled it in english.

I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't watched it but just highlight if you want to see what I think:
You know, watching that didn't phase me at all. There was no cutting or stabbing into heads and sucking out brains... just popping (literally popping) out a fetus. And it happened so fast. With a fullterm fetus it would take way longer.
I've seen birth. It's the same deal. Except birth takes longer and the thing is fullsize. But it looks exactly the same. This is supposed to be sick? I don't get it. T___T
Oh and one of the commentors said that it's a induced labor abortion of an already disceased fetus.

I'm portuguese, and the languages are similar, so I can understand most of it. Supposely, that's a clinic that performs abortions that violate the Spain's current laws, and the psychologists forge papers to allow the women to have abortions. The undercover doctor asks the staff about that, and they confirm that. In the video they talked about women that were there that were 21, 22 and 23 weeks along, and wanted to abort without any psychological or medical reason.

I know, it really wasn't so bad. And yeah, they way they showed it, it liiked more like the nurse just spread some liquid on the v****a, and then they induced the labor. But supposely, it was an abortion. (highlight if you want to see)

Oh! That makes sense. No wonder that it was done that way then. So it isn't really what we think. It's a life-saving thing.

Personally watching a birth was way nastier because of the stretching and the screaming and stuff. Makes me cringe just like when a guy sees another get hit in the balls or gets hit in the balls hisself. But did you see the tube? One of the youtube-commentors said it was a tube that was injecting acid into the fetus to kill it and then they induced labor to remove it. Did the text or the people talking say anything to confirm that? (highlight)

They spoke of a few chemicals that were injected, along with a few painkillers. I didn't quite catch what the text said, but that could have been it, even though they never actually showed the fetus being injected with it, I think. (highlight)

There should be an inquiry into why this was done and why this blatant breach of doctor-patient confidentiality was breached, as well as how dangerous it could have been to the patient. Who knows what pathogens could have been on the camera...

Some moron claimed that the painkillers (lidocaine, specifically) were what killed the fetus. rolleyes

I watched it, and honestly, it did not faze me at all. (Highlight for possible ick) It really seemed like an already dead fetus was being expelled because there wasn't much blood coming out. What little blood there was was abnormal in colour, as in near purple instead of red. The fetus also expelled intact, with no mangling, burning, or external damage from what I could see. Some commentor rambled on about how "acid" was used, but how could you safely inject acid into someone's entire uterus to begin with? Idiots.

Other than that, I found it seriously creepy how the guy was wiggling the dead fetus' limbs after. What the ********>

Exactly. Lifers call this stuff "compassionate"? I don't think so. It's dangerous to the woman and violates her rights.

I don't know the law in Spain, but such a thing is definately illegal here, and for good reason.

Exactly. It's not possible. The woman would be severely injured and probably in horrible pain.

I hate to say this but many pro-lifers are ignorant on the subject of science. Do expect the average pro-lifer to seriously have taken chemistry or anatomy and understood everything? No. More than likely their response would be about that there is acid in the stomach and that there are some acid the body can handle however, that is common fact that there is acid in the stomach to break up nutrients. But what they do not know on average, there is a special mucus lining that prevents burning of the insides. That's why ulcers can be lethal. Acid that burns human flesh and human compounds, must be incredibily potent for it to work, hence why citric acid wouldn't be an answer for it either.... sorry, didn't mean to digress like that.

I'd comment if I could, saying that if the acid were strong enough to kill the fetus it would likely burn the uterus as well as the uterus, unlike the stomach, is not designed (special mucous lining) to carry acid.

Also, I think the acid in the stomach isn't so dangerous as the enzymes in it. The acid itself isn't terribly strong, but the enzymes specifically digest protein and need acidic environment to operate. Considering the stomach is muscle, an ulcer is your stomach literally eating itself. However, drinking 6M hydrochloric acid won't do much good for your insides either.
