Name: Ran Jada Minamino

Codename: Ran

Rank: Lieutenant Colonel

Position: Geek; Science and Intelligence subforum head

Current team: SG-1

What you're here to do: Have fun and roleplay! <3 Plus I <3 you guys. x3

How or why you joined: Ran, before she joined up, was an IT tech support agent. Not one of the best out there, but she gained trust easily, and learned quickly. Her gift of languages came easily to her. She learned Javascript with ease, and even the dreaded HTML was like dust on her shoes it was so easy to control. So she began to look elsewhere for her language thrills.

Leaving her shop in Aekea behind, she looked all over Gaia, learning new languages, and not stopped by any barrier. N00b speak was the hardest of all the languages she's had to learn by far. There was no constant. The language is constantly changing, and even her mastery of languages was no contest for the masses who spoke it. She considers her learning of the language: In progress.

When the zurg came to earth, she went to Barton, and learned of a group of people with similar interests as herself. They always met in one place and called themselves the G.C.D. To this day she does not know the meaning of this acronym, for they would not tell her, the lurker, the outsider until she was one of them. But they would let her learn under them, teach her the ways of the Zurg language. It was difficult, but she soon came to a mastery of it.

One day, walking amongst these people that she had taken a liking to, she came across two Gaians. Asu and Walter. They were recruiting it seemed, for help to obtain the object placed in a Gaian field. It seemed there was much to be learned from this organization, so she herself approached them and politely asked permission to join.

It was then that Ran first joined the SGC as a Civillian. She quickly found jobs to her liking, such as organizing other people's research, which aided her own knowledge. Her help around the base got her soon promoted to a team. Ran doesn't remember those days much, as they were a blur of paperwork and meetings to keep things in line. But she does know it was an all scientific team. This did not last long. The brass decided that they needed less brains and more brawn per team due to the fact that they had to assign another team to them whenever they went off world for protection.

Ran's work got her noticed, and she got promoted to an honorary Major. She met many new friends in the higher ranks, including JL, and SFB. It was during this time it was decided by the older of the two, JL, to teach Ran how to defend herself. It took many painful training sessions before she even learned how to shoot a gun. Her arms were used to turning the pages of books, not holding a gun aloft for any amount of time. And that was just the beginning. There were many hand to hand sessions as well. And though she still does not excel in that area, she gained much in strength, and could probably hold her own in an emergency situation. Her accuracy is very high with her pistol for someone who just recently learned how to use it.

Her other abilities, like her organization skills, got her the titles of Science and Intelligence Organizer. She took all the information gleaned from intelligence teams and put it into a readable format for future references. So one could say her soldier speak is mastered as well. After continued good work at all of her jobs, she was soon promoted to SG-1. Her friendship with JL is a given, and if she was made to play favorites, she would stay by JL through thick and thin. Isn't that what friends do after all? She quickly gained the trust of her team through her bright and happy, albeit clumsy nature, and is sometimes babied by the rest of the team. Not that Ran minds. She actually kind of likes the attention. And soon after getting promoted to the team, she got a promotion to Lieutenant Colonel as well.

It took her a while to get used to the newfound authority of being one of the highest ranking members on base, even if she wasn't truly part of the military. It was then that she realized she had a rather short temper. After having her authority questioned by an Airman, she blew up at them, and an argument ensued until she calmed and removed herself from the situation. Ever since that incident, she has tried her hardest to control her temper. Though just in case, one would do best not to make her too terribly angry.

Now she enjoys going off world, even if she doesn't do so as often as others would like, due to her duties on base. Ran is always found in her quarters if not in the mess hall, messing with electronic gadgets, her first love.

Appearance: Ran's body would be considered plain. She tries very hard to stay in shape, but when one is with books and computers most of the time, it's rather hard. Her skin is pale from being inside most of the time doing that as well. Her eyes are a bright green that seem to glow with an inner light when she's happy, and her hair is a bright blonde most of the time. She doesn't remember what her natural color is. Sometimes it will be a dark color, adorned with hairpieces, or be golden blonde with extensions. Either way, when it comes mission time, she'll wear it up, or at least regulation.

Personality: Ran used to be shy, but friendly, only striking up a conversation when it seemed appropriate. Now she's come out of her shell a little more, though not as much. She'll make conversations when she's not immersed in work, and almost always talk with her close friends. She can tend to get bossy, especially when work is involved. She wants it done HER way, when SHE says so. She doesn't tolerate slackers, and is constantly on JL about slacking with her paperwork. Workaholic is also a term used to describe her, as she can stay up three nights or longer in a row if there is something pressing that needs done. She doesn't socialize as much as she used to, and she doesn't even know half the new people around the base, even though she's read their file.
