Is there anyone on here who's hobbies include sewing and antiques?
I think it would be cool to share ideas and favorite websites. We could also talk about any projects we have done or that we are working on.

I like sewing and antiques!

As far as sewing goes, I can mend clothes and make skirts out of jeans. But I'm always looking for things to sew! I love getting rips in my clothes just so I can fix them.

Ornate antiques are lovely. Like dressers and sitting-room chairs! I'd love a sitting room, or a tea room, just so I could have lovely old chairs and tables in it!
Antique clothing is great as well- all that lace! And dolls. Antique dolls are beautiful.

I did a few cross stitches this year. A butterfly, a ladybug (for a friend) and a rose. It was great! But they were a bit small. I'd love to do one of those large ones ladies did in the Victorian period.

I love both antiques and sewing.

About a quarter of my library is comprised of books dating from 1867-1935, about half of the furniture in my room is antique, and I have a bunch of antique odds and ends (a really cool brass lamp, Victorian and Edwarian figurines, almost all of my tea cups...) Mind you, I'm not some affluent girl who can afford to shop at antique shops. I'm quite far from that. I'm just really lucky when it comes to thrifting and yard saleing (is that even a word?)

As far as sewing goes, I love to sew! I'm actually thinking of majoring in fashion design, though I'm still debating between that, metal/jewelery arts, and glassblowing. I've recently been on a big pattern-making spree, and have made a bunch of lovely peices with the patterns I've drafted. Since I've been sewing for the past ten-ish years, and making clothing for about four years, pattern drafting is a breeze for me... and it's way more fun and much easier than using store-bought patterns! I might be getting more fabric today so that I can make a sundress (it shall be a gothic styled sundress!) and a few victorian-inspired nightshifts.

This website isn't crafty but it is antiquey, in a sense.
