Why is it that a lot of people don't take you guitar-playing seriously unless you're slashing to metal? I don't know how apparent this is anywhere else, but it's very common in my school. I once told a teacher I have (who taught me how to play) that I was learning Moonlight Sonata on my guitar, and he chuckled. Then, I mentioned that I knew pieces of Die by the Sword by Slayer, and he started to pay attention. We even have this thing called "Rock Night" at our school, where guitarists, drummers, bassists, etc. come together and play. I decided to go and I ended up by myself, while everyone else was covering Black Sabbath. In addition, everyone keeps telling me that I "have to learn Stairway to Heaven" or some other songs that I've never even heard.
It's really idiotic of them to be so asinine. Has anyone else had this type of problem before?
