So anyone have any big plans for the holidays?
Also silly question. My family is going to my husbands grandparents house for Christmas. We want to get a few gifts for my little girl to open but aren't sure should we lug them with us or just leave them at home and let her open them when we return after the holiday. Is it rude or preferred to bring the kids gifts with you if you're away from home for the holiday? My little girl is 5 months so she won't care either way just wonderin?

We've been to visit Hubby's family for Christmas before (a couple of states away). I guess one thing to take into consideration is if this is going to be like short drive to visit his family or if it's going to require a road trip/plane ride to visit them. My family is about 20 minutes away in the car. Usually we'll open present here, but if there is something that the girls want to show off (or that Hubby or I want to show off) we can take it with us. When we went to visit Hubby's family we didn't take any present with us (shipping there and back again just didn't make sense). If you're really uncertain though I suggest that you have your husband talk to his parets and/or grandparents and see how they feel about it. Maybe they already have presents for your little girl and there is no need to bring your own. Maybe they are not planning on purchasing anything for her because she is still so young and they would not mind you bringing your own.

when i was little, our family gifts were opened christmas morning. when i was a teenager, we went to midnight mass ans opened our gifts afterwards. now that i live 2 hours away from my sister and her adult kids, it's kind of hard on my husband and 4 year old twins to open gifts on christmas day then drive 2 hours when the kids want to play with their toys. So we're doing things different this year: i put my foot down and am being "true to my groove"! We are celebrating solstice tonight and going to my sister's on christmas eve. christmas day we can play with stockings from la befana/sanity claus and dinner with husband's elderly mother.
