Anjeni Snow White Jinx Hey Anjeni, I just found out something you might be interested to hear about. This website, http://www.chaosprogramming.com/, is selling fake Gaia log on screens to hackers for $10! It seems no one is safe on Gaia anymore. I just sent in a complaint about it and asked them what they are doing to stop this hacking stuff and if they are doing anything that might make me feel safer about being a Gaian member, hopefully I'll get a response and someone will explain to me what they plan to do about it and all the other problems with hackers on the site. I'm pretty peeved after finding out about that site... mad Ah! No s**t! Unbeliveable! (sorry for use of profanity) I have just written to Mod "Pierced Princess" I have talked to her before and she seemed pertty cool. With that name she is our kinda people right? lol. Anyway this whole thing has dampened our christmas spirit. although I'm trying to change that. I told her i just want this resolved. My son & I want to give our stuff who we think deserve it. Not some little bastage theif. lol, her name alone makes me like her, hopefully she can help you out.

I wrote to her telling her the situation, saying a i filed a report some time ago. I also mentioned that some stuff was gifted, and those items wernt included in the report. PiercedPrincess Your report was filed six days ago, on December 14. It will likely be a while before your report is handled, as reports are handled in the order that they are submitted. It won't matter that all missing items were not included in the report; we can see everything that was taken. Also, Gaia does not allow users under the age of thirteen. If your son is nine, please have him discontinue use of Gaia Online. PiercedPrincess Gaia Online Moderator I guess 6 days isn't "some time ago", to someone who's been ripped off and has gotten no word back from the only authority. I have read TOS and don't remember seeing anywhere that you have to be 13 to be on gaia. Makes me wonder if there is a cut-off age too. I feel like Ive been slighted. I would have felt better if Gaia had sent an automated reply saying that they had gotten my report and that they are "handled in the order they are taken". Letting me know that i should just be paitent. Anyway i told her my son wont ever use gaia again, so no worries there.

I always assumed PG13 meant that if the person is under the age of 13, parental guidance is suggested. Considering you're the parental unit in question, your say so should be enough. neutral As far as I can remember, the TOS doesn't say you HAVE to be 13 to be here. Isn't that why they made the word filter?

Thats what I thought, but apparently I was mistaken. However, I don't care to debate it with her. I just want the stuff I paid for back. I'd like to see a little justice & I wouldn't mind some respect from the website I've been supporting for the last couple of years. If someone ever contacts me about this (other than PiercedPrincess) and they want to make an issue of it, i'll point out that he was here under my supervision etc. I actually do read the TOS everytime they revise it & I never thought people under 13 wern't allowed either. confused

I wrote a new letter to "Pierced Princess" Hate to bother you with this again... But since your the only mod i know... Inaction on getting to the bottom of who hacked into my second account is giving the person who ripped me off plenty of time to auction off all my stuff. Much of it was purchased, these were not donations. If you pay cash for something, then assurances should be made that every effort is being made to recover those items. It seems simple, the trail is clear and I gave two names with my report. So the fact that nothing is being done puzzles me. I feel gaia sould be doing more to halt the auctions, and returning the stolen items. I have had no word from Gaia on anything that is being done, other than from you. And I had to contact you to get that much. Whom do i talk to about this? As I'm sure you don't want me to keep inquiring to you.
The "Help" thread is no help at all. Mods there seem to have short tempers and like to say "we are not responcible" a lot. Other Gaian's like to blame the victim. That dosn't help your average Gaia who massively stressed because theyve been robbed. There should be a more efficent way to dealing with people who hack into our account, and a more efficent way of dealing with the victims of hacks. No info forthcomming is no comfort or assurance at all.
Sorry if this sound like a rant Pierced Princess, I am not blaming you. I just think something better can be done for Gaians, especially since Gaia is pushing cash spending so much these days.
If there is anyway I can help, please let me know. _____________________________________________________________ The fact that vitims really have no rights / no right to complain seems expected to be normal. With us dolling out cash now it really shouldn't be. (it never should have been anyway) The trail is so clear on who hacked my son's (well mine i guess now) account that I could follow it. Almondie is telling me a friend got hacked and never got his stuff back! Thats pretty shocking to me since it's been weeks now with no real word from Gaia. Tell me guys because I want your opinion here. Youve all been Gaia members for a while, so I need your opinion. Am I being unreasonable? How long do i wait? Cause i have to tell you, it's getting tempting just to hack the effer back. I don't want to stoop to his level really, but if nothings going to be done to him, and he's just free to hack whomever, it's very tempting to just play robin hood.

I think its crazy. How hard is it to just track the trades made, ban the user who sent the expensive stuff to his account from your account and give you the items back or at least give you a large sum of gold so you can buy each item back? 1000s of people donate to Gaia each day and now with the cash shopand Gaia gift cards being sold at places like Target they are making millions! They could easily spare some of that to hire a 'hacker team' of people whose job is nothing but dealing with hacked accounts, banning the hackers and getting to items back to the rightful owners. I think you have every right to be angry and pushy because it could be a simple fix but it is not and they don't seem to be doing anything about it. If you could hack the jerk back and get your stuff back without getting caught I'd do it. He deserves it. Karma is a be-otch.

Snow White Jinx and I have a mutual friend who merely forgot his password here on Gaia, has been trying to get it back for months now, and still has had no luck. When they can't even bothered to do that much, there really isn't much hope for anything else, as much as I hate to say it. sad

She didn't have much to begin with, but some asshat was using my avi to beg for gold. stressed stressed stressed

I recall commenting on the state of Gaia's Hacker response methods and time somewhere recently, i thought it was here, but apparantly not.
Gaia online takes approximately 12 months to reply to a reported hacking.
I feel they need to spend more time refining their ability to respond to hacked accounts effectively and swiftly and less time giving a ******** about what their precious website looks like and who their next sponsor is.
I vow that if you elect me president, i will work with the Gaian administration to improve their hacker prevention and response methods. I also vow that as president, i will not go to war with another country for Caffeinated beverages.
POWER TO THE USER!
Vote 1 For Warr!

Hey new news! While Gaia has still done nothing, someone made a mass donation anon - to my son's account, returning most of his pilfered items. I don't know if the person just started feeling guilty or what. Some of the items, Im sure, have been sold. But he was happy to get back what he did.
It is distressing to me that Gaia has still not replied 6 months later.
On a side note: Gaia sent me an invitation to the prom event (in my email) 5 days after it ended! Wasn't that nice of them?
I don't have much interest in Gaia since the hack occoured, but since you guys are so very cool (really, you are) i'll try to comment in the guild at least once a week.

It's good to hear he got most of them back. Thats funny about the prom invite. I never got one, not even late. lol. I'm only on to stop by the guild every so often and to play pinball, otherwise I'm kinda done with Gaia. They seem to be all about getting more members and it's starting to overpopulate the site with idiots. sweatdrop
