Not among our guild of course, but among the fandom as a whole. Whenever I go looking into TFA stuff on youtube, the comments are full of varying bad comments. I'm not going to repeat those, because they vary in grammatical ability (and sense).
So, my question is "Why is it whenever they even talk about doing something new, a good lot of the fandom shouts out rebellion?"
I've never understood why. Well, I understand a lot of the hatred for the Unicron Trilogy, as I'm sure it lost a lot of its magic in redubbing, as almost all cartoons do when dubbed into another language (so I've heard. I've never actually watched any cartoon that wasn't in english.) Actually, what turned me away from RiD and U-Trilogy was the lack of seriousness. I didn't really watch more than one episode of Armada, as I soon after lost interest in Transformers altogether, and simply didn't care about the rest of the series. I still don't talk too much smack about UT, being that I don't really know anything about it (besdes the sucky CGI in Energon/Cybertron). Whoops, kinda ranted there.
Also, after it has run its course and have a few episodes, most everything has been accepted by the fandom.
Why the initial zealotesk response to new things among the fandom?

I think people just respond to new things with a resounding "DO NOT WANT" until they get to see whatever it is that all the hubub is about. I refer to it as Trukk not Munky Syndrome. I usually just point and laugh.
Basically, I figure that if it exists, bricks will be shat over it by somebody. New series? Brick. New toys? Brick. Latest installment of a comic? Brick. A non-canonical pairing that has a decently-sized following? Brick cubed.
I really just don't get the ire over things in fandom in general. If it bugs you so much, then just don't look at it. Distance yourself from it and focus on whatever it is in fandom that you actually like. I hate Beast Machines, but instead of focusing on it by talking about how much I loathe it, I usually just occupy myself with Beast Wars. It's not like I'm being forced to watch it, after all.

heart , Tampons. I actually don't plan on distancing myself from it, just because I want to see them all shut up and their arguments start to dwindle down to mindless insults. And I don't really hate that part of the fandom; it's more curiosity that drives me to knowing their reasoning. it's just a bit beyond my understanding how they manage to believe their reasoning. Then again, most of the problems I've heard is over how a thing looks, not how its told. That probably goes with the fact the story and characters are what's important to me.

The common thing is that people fear change. They think everything should stay the same when it works fine and it makes sense to them. Having new things make them detached from what they know. Most people freak out. Instead of saying "I don't know it" they go "I hate it". Quite common when people panic over the unknown. Once enough of it is talked about and they learn more about the "new" they stop complaining because now they are familiar and comfortable with the idea. They still don't enjoy it but they can accpet that fact.

Oh no, I think I worded my statement wrong. I didn't mean "you" in the last paragraph as in "you, Deej Dateh," I just meant a hypothetical "you." I should really start working on my coherency. D: I love pointing and gawking as much as anybody. That's why I follow the fandom_wank community so closely.

I personally feel the same way: asking what's up with the hatred. I haven't watched Armada yet, but from what I've seen, the plot's great and so are the characters.

Once enough of it is talked about and they learn more about the "new" they stop complaining because now they are familiar and comfortable with the idea. They still don't enjoy it but they can accept that fact. Very true. And then there are the other people who will never come around. They refuse to accept this new thing at all costs, so at times they will lash out, hoping to turn others against it. Or they like being different or the one with the opposing opinion. Who knows - there are many reasons behind why someone does not desire new things and will never come to grips with it.
I've met a lot of people who love G1 a lot and absolutely detest all the other TF shows. So, instead of doing whatever else, they go around trash talking on the other shows, saying how it is nothing like G1 and so forth.
I think people just want to (and love to) complain about "new" stuff for the heck of it and rag on the people who are into the new thing. That's just how people are.

Transformers are all about change.
That's the irony.

Dealing with something as iconic as Transformers, there will always be comparisons with the original. As fandom grows older, the more they will be unwilling to accept change and the more debate it will create. It's what most of the fans grew up with. We all know Prime, Megatron, Grimlock, Starscream, and any other of our faves like we know our own friends and family. I think that's how much of an impact most of these characters were and anything that changes that would be seen as an insult to some. Others can see the same quality in each series of Transformers that made them fall in love with the franchise in the first place. But I think that it's gotten to a point where they have to constantly reinvent the Transformers for the next generation of fans while trying to pay homage to the rest of the fan base. This trend isn't just limited to the Transformers, but also other properties such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Mobile Suit Gundam, and comics in general. Almost all of them have an Alternate Universe type theme to reinvent the series while keeping the original ongoing story and their fans satisfied.
To me, no matter how you repackage it, the main themes of each series have basically remained the same: Good vs. Evil, Struggle, Survival, War, Sacrifice, and Victory. I'm glad that the Transformers have endured through the decades and the best part is.... the rides not over yet!
