Every year at this time, i make sure my avvi has no Xmasy colors on. No red and green, none of the new event items, not for months anways.
for the new item, i choose the igloo, as it was the most non-xmas thing there. and what goes on? an xmas hat.
So,
as i am not good at this i put it to you, the Jews of gaia! to band together and petiotion some Jewish items! A menora, a star of david, anything. plz lets do somthing!

Happy Hanukkah.
and sry for my long abcance ive been busy with lots of things heart

I'll be shouted down for this, but I actually think it's quite fine for them to commercialize and trivialize Christmas. They've taken something which is about a savior we don't believe in anyway, and they've turned it into something that's about presents, snow, and candy canes. Let 'em!

If they had Jewish items (menorah, mezuzah, Chanukah-themed cards or clothes), two things would happen. First, Judaism would start to become just as commercialized as Christianity has become. Secondly, the real purpose of the holidays would become trivialized and obscured. Instead of the freedom-of-religion and freedom-from-oppression themes, we'd be looking at the Chanukah Mama, the Candle Fairies, Chanukah Harry and Chanukah Chavah, and the ever-so-ridiculous Big Nose item on the first night of Chanukah. I do not want that to happen.

I would on the other hand just plainly not worry about it.

I mean, honestly a 9 candle menorah is not a epic symbol of judiasm as much as a 6 candle menorah is...

If we could get a torah in here, I'd be happy. But that's all I'm askin for.

a little Torah would cause to much Shtoyot. ppl would then want a bible and other things, i mean, hello theres already a cross item. why not give us a star of david?

The Midwinter Festival is *not* a Christian holiday. We call it Christmas, in this time-space, but it has gone by other names and will go by other names. Jesus was never the "reason for the season" (there are various theories about when his birth was, but none of them focused on the middle of winter). I can call it Xmas or Christmas or Saturnalia or the Winter Solstice or the Midwinter Sabbat or Kwanzaa - it really, really does not matter. There is some aspect of humanity that has always held a celebration, with lights and feasting and gift-giving, around or on the shortest days of the year. Usually, this celebration is at least a week long, and often it lasts twelve days. My parents have a tree and I enjoy Christmas lights and caroling and stuff because it's about as religious as the Fourth of July or Thanksgiving. I mean, we're all going to be cheerful and love each other and sing happy songs - I don't see why anyone would have a problem with that.

Even if you do feel that Christmas has decidedly religious implications and isn't a secular holiday (as it's pretty much been since around 700 B.C. or earlier, I just don't have proof of the really ancient stuff), and that's your opinion, do you really dislike Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer?

I figure that with all the commercialization of Frosty and Rudolph I have no reason to be offended. Besides, I don't expect things for being Jewish; I'm well aware I'm in the minority. Plus, I get to look at Christmas lights without having to pay an exceptionally high electrical bill. Win-win situation.
