Has anyone read any of the Kiesha'ra series by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes? There are five books that I know of: Hawksong, Snakecharm, Falcondance, Wolfcry, and the newest, Wyverhail. They are about several species of shapeshifters, and their efforts to maintain peace with each other after generations of war. I have to read Wyvernhail, but I've enjoyed the series so far. I do want to discuss them, so I won't offer any more opinion than that until other people can chime in.

I've read Hawksong. It was pretty good, but deffinately not my favourite of her books. I haven't been able to get my hands on the rest of the series. Hopeful X-mas pressies *crosses fingers*

Which others are hers have you read?
I found Hawksong a little on the too short side, but I was intrigued by the world development I saw.

I've read Deamon in My View, Midnight Predator, In the Forests of the Night and Shatered Mirror. They're all pretty short, but i like them.
I liked the ideas in Hawksong, but at the same time i'm not sure where the plot would have gone for her to make 4 more books in he series. I've had a few dodgy encounters with series' that were extended way too far than they should have been lately. i really hope the rest are good and not just tacked on as they go along because that could ruin it for me.

The rest of the series expands the world a bit, as they go into Serpent culture, the Falcon city (not at all the same as the Hawks), and even touch on other shifters. They seem to be building a world history as they go, and often deal with duty vs. desire and the price of caring for the good of the many.

I own all of her books. As for the Kiesha'ra series, I liked Hawksong and Falcondance quite a lot. The plots were unique and interesting.
I hated Snakecharm because Rei had been my favourite character, and I thought his fate about having to watch the woman he loved with another man forever was tragically beautiful. As a result, when he fell in love with that other girl out of nowhere it killed his character appeal for me.
Wolfcry was only okay. I appreciated that a lesbian was included, but the story itself was rather boring.
I haven't read the final installment yet; it's still sitting on the bookshelf. sweatdrop

Somehow I think the series started to go downhill--the stories all seem a bit rushed.

I thought it was a pretty good series, two things I really didn't like was how short the books were and also how of some of the problems were fixed such as what Minerva the boolwyrm said Rei in "Snakecharm" fell in love with another woman out of nowhere.

Reira2013 I thought it was a pretty good series, two things I really didn't like was how short the books were and also how of some of the problems were fixed such as what Minerva the boolwyrm said Rei in "Snakecharm" fell in love with another woman out of nowhere. I wonder if she was trying to keep them short on purposes. Maybe if she'd allowed herself a longer treatment of the characters, Rei's romance wouldn't have been so "WTF?".
