An elegant, young lady is sauntering around in circle sobbing desperately into a soaked tissue. Suddenly she falls to the ground sobbing more, louder and more sorrowful. She does not know that she is being watched or that someone heard her moans. The stranger who was watching her is cautiously walking up right behind her and puts his hand on her shoulder.
This caused the girl to jerk up immediately and stare at this stranger wide-eyed. This female had the look of sheer terror all over her face combined with red, puffy eyes from crying and tears running down her cheeks. Her skin was ghostly pale and every feature to her seemed very ornate even for a female. Her eyes were a deep brown, so dark that her eye color looks like a vat of dark chocolate. She had long, flowing hair that was longer than most women’s hair. Her hazel-colored hair was swaying in the wind. She looked mature but had features that did not belong on an adult such as wide eyes and a childish sense of curiosity on her face.
The man who had his hand on the woman’s shoulder had the look of pity mixed with a worried expression. The man had pale skin too but not nearly as pale as the female’s skin. He had long, messy jet-black hair covering parts of his face. The girl could still see his eyes even with his hair covering his face. The eye color was a sapphire blue filled with a confuzzled look. His arms had various scratches that were bleeding like he had gotten into a fight or something. Maybe he was a hobo. Even his clothes were torn in different places. His body was awfully unkempt. He had a grayish bruise on his right cheek. Yet he looked a couple of years older than the girl.
Finally he reaches a decision and holds out his hand as to help her. When she believes that the man holding out his arm was not going to cause her harm she relaxes slightly. The teenager reaches out to grab his arm. His hand was cold and rough. When she was on her feet she introduced herself.
“My name is Yume”, she said in a soft, quiet pitch, “Why are you stalking me when it is midnight? Don’t sneak up behind me like that ever again! That is a really creepy thing to do. You could have at least said something before you touched my shoulder. ”
The young man withdrew his confuzzled expression back and replaced it with a distant look. He opened his mouth, as though to say something. He drew in a deep breath like he was nervous or irritated. He muttered something that Yume did not hear. Yume shot the guy a puzzled look because she could not understand what he said. It did not sound like he was speaking English. He saw the look in Yume’s eyes and turned away as though her presence was bothering him.
“Just a tip of advice, don’t talk to people in that tone or you might come home with a broken nose. Just who do you think you are anyways? I have a question for you. For what purpose are you walking around a graveyard at this late at night? If you want to know my name it’s Yuyami, for future reference”, He said in a sort of low, deep growl. Yuyami was still facing away from Yume; he raised his head to peer at the full moon. Yuyami felt the cool, crisp breeze blow in his face causing his hair to sway.
Yume had never been so roughly spoken to in her life and this attitude perturbed her. It just struck her that she was in a cemetery. Yume was not paying attention to where she was going. She only knew that she was anywhere but home. She was so distressed that she didn’t notice that her entire frame was trembling involuntary. She was looking around her surroundings, making sure to take in vital details so that if by any chance she needed to flee she would pick the easiest escape route for her.
“Hey. I asked you a question. I expect an answer when I ask a question. Don’t ignore me!” Yuyami snarled. This time he spun around to face the girl. He had not noticed Yume’s agonized body language. His expression softened into sympathy at the sight of her dejection. Her face held total horror combined with sorrow. She was so restless that she could not control her quivering body. She had the look of a person who had lost everything.
“If you wanted an answer from me, you didn’t have to yell at me. If you want the truth then you will have your answers, and then go on your way. Just leave me alone after this”, Yume cried, “My kin is dead! Are you satisfied now?! Don’t try to ‘save’ me. Go on with your own life and let me reach my own salvation!”
This retort astonished Yuyami. Half of him wanted to wring this girl’s tiny neck for her lack of respect and the other half wanted to weep for the suffering she has to endure for the rest of her life. She held the tone of bravado at this last comeback like everything was going to work out in the end. How was she able to retaliate against her emotions so much? Where did her strength come from? This all must be her bluff to get me to leave. This kind of response is too well emotionally controlled to be how she really believes the outcome will be.
“You can call off your bluff now, it’s not fooling me. You’re not walking away so that you can only kill yourself later. You are coming with me.” Yuyami replied gruffly. He quickly grabbed the girl’s wrist and tightened his grip so that she could not wiggle loose. This swift movement alarmed Yume and she chose to try to break his controlling grip but Yuyami’s grip was too strong for her feeble attempts. She was pulled along forcibly away from the cemetery.
“Let me go now! I will scream! You won’t let go of me because you think that I am going to kill myself?! What’s wrong with you?” Yume shrieked. She was sorely tempted just to knock him out but an unconscious body is surely bound to get the residents to notify the authorities and will include a media report on her. That alternative was too risky. She certainly could not evade the media completely; there was probably a missing person case on her disappearance already. The added on problem was that this Yuyami person could be working with the organization of the people who killed her relatives. He could have easily been an undercover cop. Either way Yume was screwed. She knew that there was no easy loophole for her escape. She was trapped for now, until Yuyami released his grip on her. It was useless trying to struggle now. She was his prisoner for now. This is probably not going to end out well at all for her. Time will reveal its secrets later.
Yume paced about a mile before she actually realized how exhausted she actually was. She knew that she needed to rest soon or else she would fall asleep on the path and Yuyami would be stuck with a dead-weight until she was well rested. She found herself being tugged at by the arm and almost drifted off into slumber a few times. This normally short walk for her drained her of her energy rapidly. She needed to stop before actually did fall asleep. She found herself yawning on several occasions and had to try various methods in order to keep awake. None of these techniques really worked well at all. She was losing control; she could feel herself drifting off into dreamland. This is my limit, she thought, I guess that I’m finished. She was pulled out of her dreamland state by a rough shake to her body.
“Hey, try to stay awake for a while. I know it is late but please don’t fall asleep on me. It’s not that far away. We are almost there”, Yuyami said in a much gentler tone, “Look! It’s right over there. Can’t you see it?” Yuyami pointed over to the left. Yume noticed the large, two-story shack that looked like it needed new shingles badly. Other than that it was an impressive house, considering the fact that Yuyami looks like a homeless person. The dwelling looked rather old but it seemed extremely stable. Yume did not realize that Yuyami let go of her wrist until she saw him walking towards his place.
Why did he let me go? Surely he knew that there was the possibility of me fleeing. I know that he doesn’t trust me and he knows that I don’t trust him. So why did he do that? What was with that tender tone that he used earlier? Is he half-asleep? Yume was befuddled by this. She did not understand his reasons for his actions.
Yume had never been talked to in a soft tone before; she had always been scorned at for her mishaps very frequently. She has always been the center of attention and also hated for being the daughter of the most elite man of the township. She felt like that she was the burden of the family. She was born wealthy but also brought up very strictly. When your family has the power others only look for your screw ups so that they can humiliate you and your parents. Her custodians did not believe that she was fit to be the heiress of her family fortune. Everybody had expected her to be a child prodigy but she seemed like too much an average kid in order to be a child prodigy.
“Hey. Are you just going to stand there all night zoning out or are you actually coming inside?” Yuyami asked. He was casually leaning on the door’s frame with his arms crossed. A draft of chilly wind blew in and made Yume snap out of her flashback. One of the things that she was usually ridiculed about was that she constantly didn’t pay attention to her private instructors and instead chose to daydream because she found it hard to concentrate during lessons. She shook off her train of thought and decided to go inside. She paused and opened her mouth like she was going to say something but thought otherwise. She decided to ask him anyways.
“I’m curious about something. What was with that tone you talked to me earlier? Not the harsh tone but the soft tone. Why did you release me? I could have bolted off you know.” Yume inquired. She was truly perplexed. Her expression was full of curiosity. She wanted to know why. This time her face was filled with grief, weariness, and inquisitiveness. Her eyes were not as red as they were earlier but her tears were still somewhat visible on her cheeks. She looked like she was half asleep as it was. She could have easily looked like she has been sleepwalking and still is.
Yume leaned on the nearest tree and eased herself onto the ground. She had never experienced fatigue like this before and she did not like feeling so helpless. She thought that only physical exercise could make someone so drained of energy. She had never been taught on what to do when you are drained of energy and stranded at somewhere you never have been before. Of course it was just common sense to Yume to go to bed when you are worn-out. Common sense was not going to help her out of this mess. She had nowhere else to go. If she tried to contact her relatives she would only be shunned away and mocked at for her misfortune like it was her fault for her family being murdered.
She could not help but feel like their deaths could have been prevented. Powerful guilty feelings lingered inside of her. She could not cast these new emotions away. They were stuck with her. These feelings had clung to her heart and refused to let go. Yume knew that she was going through changes now and in the future to come. She shoved her new founded conscience aside for now and tried to stand up but found it difficult. The first attempt was very pathetic; she only fell down on her butt. The second attempt was successful and she actually made it to her feet. She did struggle with her body because she was worn-out and her body was shaking from the cold weather and trauma.
Now walking? That was a different story. Now how am I going to get my legs to actually work is beyond me, she thought. Standing up was hard enough as it was. To actually walk in her present condition was going to feel almost impossible. She did want to go inside but her body wasn’t ready for her to try to move again. She persisted to push herself in order to find some comfort when she actually did make it inside. Her body felt heavy, like she had the weight of the world on her shoulders.
Every step that she took was very agonizing to her. Whenever her feet touched the ground they wobbled sideways. At least she was moving forward. Her body was conflicting with her will. Her will wanted to continue to walk while her body wanted her to sit down and rest longer.
She had to pause because her body finally gave out on her. Her legs did not support her anymore and she could not stand. She began to fall to the ground. I guess that this is as far as I’m going for now, she thought. She did not try to catch herself. She was unusually serene for someone who is falling to the ground. There was not even a single line of worry on her face, like she actually embraced the thought of falling.
She felt her fall stopped forcibly, she was caught before she did hit the ground. Yuyami had stopped her fall by grabbing her with both arms across her waist and used his body to cushion the impact of the fall. Yume had felt the impact and did not react physically but her mind had assessed the situation. Yuyami had reacted to her fall. He had put himself in-between her and the ground. She tried to react with her body but it was futile. She was not going to move anytime too soon.
“Hey! Why didn’t you try to catch yourself? Why didn’t you at least try to move as if you were trying to ask for assistance? You didn’t have to push yourself so hard. Why didn’t you say something earlier? Can you even answer me?” Yuyami questioned. He rolled over and laid Yume on her side. She was still conscious and didn’t look like that she was injured from the fall. Her frame was shaking violently. Her body was in an unstable condition now. She was not in control of the movements that her body makes.
“Ugh.” Yume muttered not out of pain but out of surprise. This was the only thing that she could have mustered from her lips. At least he knows that I’m awake and alright, Yume thought. Why couldn’t I have at least said a real word besides ugh? What was with her today? Why was she so flustered? Why was she the only one who was so weak?
Yume felt herself being picked up off of the ground. Yuyami was struggling with not trying to drop her body. Yume thought that Yuyami was not used to carrying objects over 110 pounds. He was struggling with the dead-weight. Yume was not making this any easier for Yuyami. She was pretty much useless right now. He could have easily left Yume there until morning but he would have to deal with her later. He was in no mood to deal with an angry Yume in the morning. He was not a morning person. Messing with Yuyami in the morning was the worst possible thing to do because he will go into a violent frenzy and break stuff and perhaps hurt whoever bothers him. He did not want to have to send Yume to the hospital because of his ‘morning rage’.
He pressed on with his struggle on moving Yume inside. Why did she have to get herself into this kind of situation? On the plus side, the house was only less than fifty feet away. It could have been farther away. Yuyami was not that weary, but dragging an unresponsive person was not that effortless. Yume could have been kicking and screaming if she wasn’t unresponsive. Yume wasn’t exactly resisting but then again she wasn’t helping Yuyami out either. He continued to summon whatever strength he had left into moving the girl’s body elsewhere.
Yume tried to move but her body was still unresponsive. She was able to move her arm a little and her hand scrapped against Yuyami’s thigh. This made Yuyami pause for a moment to actually realize that Yume was slightly responsive. She’s still awake? Yuyami thought that Yume was unconscious. This movement caught Yuyami off guard. He almost jumped back and let go of Yume’s body. It was a good thing that he had not gone by his instincts. He continued to move forward and didn’t have anymore surprises from Yume.
Yuyami finally made it to the house in about fifteen minutes and was glad. His breathing was rugged and slow. He was alright but he didn’t have a lot of stamina left. He felt that he would need to start working out more often. In the mean time he set Yume’s body on a nearby couch and plopped himself down into a recliner, sitting down felt so comfortable right now. He was not going to move until Yume was able to walk on her own in the morning. He was in no condition to try to move the girl’s body into the spare bedroom right now. He needed at least a ten minute rest. Yume was not going to suffer at all. He needed to regain enough motivation and stamina before he got up.
Yuyami glanced over at Yume to make sure that she wasn’t trying to move. She could have seriously injured herself if she did try to budge. She would thank him later for this. Yuyami drew in slow, deep breaths for a couple of minutes until his breathing returned to normal. His energy was slowly returning to him. He was almost ready to try to move the girl’s body into the spare bedroom. Just a little bit longer, Yuyami’s body was telling him. He glanced over at the clock to check the time. The time was 2:23 AM. No wonder why he was so tired, it was already past two in the morning.
He ignored the current time and got up slowly. Yuyami walked over to the couch and gave Yume a small nudge to let her know that he was there. She didn’t act surprised at all. She just glanced over at Yuyami. She tried to sit up but Yuyami prevented her from doing this action. She did not try to struggle with Yuyami this time. Yuyami put one of his arms around the middle of Yume’s back and he put the other arm under where the creases of her legs were. This prompted Yume to drape her arms around Yuyami’s neck for support so that she wouldn’t be dropped when Yuyami was walking. The girl’s arms around his neck felt soft, comforting to Yuyami.
Yuyami’s steps were slow and cautious. At least this time he had a firm grip on Yume and he didn’t have to pause to try readjusting his grip. He was thankful that moving her this time was not strenuous on his body. Yuyami was particularly careful when he was ascending the stairs because he was carrying Yume. Yume didn’t panic when Yuyami was carrying her up the stairs. She had been taught not to panic because others could tell when she was vulnerable. They had finally reached the second floor without any problems at all.
In the second level of the house it was not possible to go forward unless you wanted to enter a room. The only directions you could go were left and right. Yuyami turned right and walked down the corridor. He passed two doorways on the right side. Yuyami finally paused in front of a door on the left side of the hall way.
He eased Yume to the ground in order to open the door. Letting go of Yume made Yuyami long for her touch again. He shook off these emotions for now and turned his focus to the door. The door swung easily at his touch. Yuyami reached down and picked up Yume again. These feelings came back again when he had Yume in his arms.
He tried to ignore the feelings and carried Yume to the bed and slowly lowered her. Yuyami made sure that Yume was comfortable and was alright. He turned away towards the door and glanced over in Yume’s direction before he left. He walked towards his room, which was the last door on the right side. He walked into his room and placed himself on the bed a lot less graceful than when he was with Yume. He couldn’t fall asleep because the new founded passion towards Yume had puzzled him. Had he already developed an emotional attachment to Yume? He had pitied the girl for her problems but did that leave him vulnerable to having feelings for her? He felt sleep beginning to claim him but he still held these questions in his head. Everything was fading to black. He had finally fallen asleep.
Yume was half asleep already. She was glancing around at her surroundings. Nothing really did stand out to her until her eyes saw the book lying on a shelf. The book had a strange symbol on it. Yume recognized the symbol immediately as the same mark she saw on the murders’ arms. This had caught her off guard. She stared at the object like there was a demon in there. She was questioning the possibility that Yuyami was one of the people working with the organization that wanted her dead. She just couldn’t shake that thought off so easily. Before she had a chance to meditate on this thought, she felt her mind going blank. She was drifting off into a much needed slumber.
Yume arose from her slumber by a noisy dispute from outside. She bolted towards the window and almost threw herself out of the window. Something made her stop like she wanted to see if it was safe for her to show her face. After all she was a missing person. She decided to stay silent and listen for a bit. If the situation became too dangerous she would be faced with the ultimatum of fight or flight. She wanted to find out what was going on outside. Yume heard shouting from voices she did not recognized. She did hear Yuyami’s voice mixed in with the others. From what she could tell these new voices were filled with hostility towards Yuyami. She couldn’t make out the exact words that they were spewing.
“Well, well. Look who we have found. We found a filthy traitor here when we were searching for a pathetic, wretched female that evaded us earlier. She got lucky this time. Now luck is not on her side because we are searching everywhere. It’s amazing that we didn’t find her yet. She couldn’t have gotten that far though. I know that she’s close by…” the man believed, “Yes, she caught you in a mass of trouble again. What do think she will do when she knows? The boss won’t let you off the hook once she finds out the truth. You know that she’ll find out eventually. Once she does, we will be rewarded handsomely for the information leading to your capture.”
Yume gasped at the sound of this new information. She needed to leave in an incognito way and find a nearby town or she’ll be discovered. Yes, she thought, I need to get far away where they can’t find me. They’re close to gaining on me, Yume said to herself. The new founded person inside of her wanted to stay and fight these new assailants. She knew that she should leave but her other side urged her to retaliate. This urge was too powerful for her.
She had to find out the truth. She literally threw herself out of the window and fell to the ground twenty feet below. Her landing was graceful especially for a person falling two stories. She landed with barely a dull thud. Nobody noticed the noise that she made. Not one person turned their head to her direction. She started dashing towards the voices but she remembered to not make as much noise as possible. She took cover behind a tree and waited to make her move. She glanced over in Yuyami’s direction, things looked like that they were going to get violent soon. The dude shoved Yuyami aggressively that it caused Yuyami to stagger to the ground. He was in danger.
Yume could tell that the guy held a personal vendetta against Yuyami. The female, however, was neutral. The woman was calm and composed while the man, on the other hand, was going into a temperamental frenzy. This guy was trying to pick a fight. Yuyami’s presence was only adding on to his rage. This dude was a psychopath. Yume found it surprising that the female was not trying to control him at all. Yume thought that it would make sense to find a traitor and bring him back to his collective, unscathed, and then be dealt with. She had to make her move now!
She had the element of surprise on her side. She bolted towards the three and started yelling as loud as she could so that she could startle them and have the advantage to launch the first attack. She was spewing out, “WHY DID YOU DECIEVE AND USE ME?!”
“I did not deceive you. Haven’t you heard? It’s not you that I betrayed. It’s them that I used. I never lied to you. Long ago I had decided to turn over a new leaf and change who I was,” Yuyami announced. The look on his face was full of regret and shame. He let his head hang low.
Yume dug her foot into the dirt to stop herself. Her fist was raised and clenched. Her breath was rugged. She was originally aiming for Yuyami’s face. She was wrong? She was the ignorant one here. Damn it, I just used up both of my advantages. What is going to happen now? Should I go in for another attempt to attack?
“Hey! It’s the female! Secure her!” The female shouted at her accomplice. The male ran towards her in sort of a sideways dash. His hand gripped her wrist tightly. The grip was so tight that it made her wince in pain. She saw the opportunity to launch her counter attack. Yume grabbed the guy’s arm with the opposite hand and hurled him over her shoulder. It took a lot of effort to do this. While he was on the ground she sent a kick towards his stomach and the ground made this attack affect his back. He was immobilized by the throbbing. His spine had suffered damage. His stomach, on the other hand, was severely wrecked. He managed to turn on his side so that he wouldn’t choke on his puke. Yume could see that there was blood mixed in with whatever else he was puking up. He was not getting up anytime too soon. Just to make sure that he wouldn’t get up she wrapped her hands around his neck and choked him until he passed out.
Now, it was just the female in her way. Yume glanced at her. Yuyami was restrained by ropes fastened around his wrists. He was useless. The woman’s facial expression has drastically changed. She was panicking. She started to fumble around for something in her pocket.
“A little help would be nice. All you have to do is cut the ropes and I’ll take care of the rest,” Yuyami spoke. When Yume glanced at the female she noticed what she held in her fist. It was a pocket knife. She pressed it firmly against Yuyami’s neck. Yuyami held his head up so that he could breathe freely. Yume started to panic. She had to think of something and fast. She drew out her own pocket knife from her sash. She didn’t point it towards the other female. She pressed it against her own neck.
“Drop the knife or I will take my own life,” Yume announced aloud. She knew that the other woman would have to comply with her or else she would have lost her status and been humiliated.
The other woman was reluctant to comply with Yume. She was in indecision. The longer she took the force applied that Yume’s neck became greater. Finally the other woman released the knife from her grip. Yuyami used this to his advantage and attacked. The woman was not expecting the sudden attack and was knocked down to the ground by his kick. Yuyami was attacking for two reasons. He was trying to get the woman as far away from the knife as possible. He was also trying to immobilize the woman. Yuyami felt the ropes starting to loosen a little and he started to wiggle his wrists as much as he could. He finally managed to get the ropes off but he did not do it. Yume had a smirk on her face and Yuyami saw that she was holding the knife in her hand. Yume had cut the rope. Yuyami was free to continue attacking the other woman. She was trying to get up but Yuyami stopped her by sending a harsh kick to her chest. The force put into the kick was so strong that it sent her flying and made her hit a tree. The physical pressure was too much for her body to handle and she gave up the struggle to stay conscious.
Yume and Yuyami sighed in relief. The fight was over for now. They both headed for the house after they moved the bodies to a nearby body of water and dropped them into a boat and left the two to be stranded. Yuyami and Yume watched the boat drift off and away.
They walked into the house and Yuyami paused and spoke, “I’m sorry that you had to find out the truth in that way. I didn’t want you to be hurt by my screw-ups.”
Yume replied, “I was going to find out in one way or another eventually. It might as well have been now.”
Yume walked upstairs and went back to the room she was sleeping in. She needed a few more hours of sleep. She was falling asleep again.
Yume woke up at about noon. She walked downstairs and saw Yuyami spread out on the couch. He was awake. Yuyami noticed Yume and let out a sigh. He looked like he was stressed at something. Yume could not tell what Yuyami was stressed about. Yuyami sat up and said, “I was wondering when you were going to wake up. I’m being lazy today. I am supposed to be in school today but I am skipping today. Besides I can’t leave you here when I am in school. That’s why I have hacked into the school computers and enrolled you into my school. You have the same classes I have. I have the schedule printed out so you can see your classes.”
He handed Yume a yellow sheet of paper. Yume looked at the classes printed on the paper and noticed that all of the classes were regular and some were remedial classes. There were no electives, not even a single honors class!
“Tomorrow you will be starting your first day in my school. I am going to pass you off as my long lost twin sister to others. I know that you can resemble me if you can toughen up and throw your weight around a bit. It wouldn’t hurt if garbed less feminine,” Yuyami said.
The day passed by for what seemed like forever. Nobody did anything. They both let laziness claim them. Yume memorized the schedule by the end of the day. Yuyami grabbed two frozen meals and heated them up in the microwave. The meals thawed out in about a minute and half. He set his meal on the counter and carried the second meal upstairs to Yume. Yume took the food and thanked Yuyami and silently at her dinner. The food was a little too hot for her. She ate it anyways. When she was finished she went downstairs and threw the plastic tray away in the kitchen trash. She returned upstairs without speaking to Yuyami and lied around on the bed for about two hours until she fell asleep. She wondered how her first day of school was going to end.
Yume was very groggy when she woke up the next morning. She did not want to get up at all. Yuyami had to drag her out of the bed. Yume’s body landed hard on the floor with a loud thud. This jolt woke her up. She let out a loud moan.
“That hurts!” Yume said. She was rubbing the back of her head. Yume got up off of the floor.
“Here’s a change of clothes. Hurry up and get dressed,” Yuyami replied. He handed her a bundle of clothes and left the room.
Yume unwrapped the bundle of clothes and saw that the clothes were Yuyami’s own. The clothes included an undershirt, a buttoned long-sleeved collar shirt, and a pair of jeans.
Yume took off the dress that she was wearing and slipped on the undershirt first. It was loose near the stomach but was really tight on her chest. Next, she unbuttoned the collar shirt and slid it on over her shoulders. She did not button the shirt back up. Last was the pair of blue jeans. Yume put her legs in after she unbuttoned them and pulled up the pants. The jeans were a few inches loose but as long as they stayed on her hips she didn’t care. She pulled the zipper up and re-buttoned the jeans.
Yume opened the door and went downstairs. Yuyami was in the kitchen and he was holding a pop tart packet. In the other hand he held a messenger bag.
“The bag on the counter is for you. Catch,” Yuyami said. He grabbed another pop tart packet and threw it at Yume. Yume barely caught the pop tart and she grabbed the backpack on the table. She slid it on one of her shoulders and went to the refrigerator and grabbed a bottled water. Yume watched Yuyami stuff the pop tart and bottled water in his bag. Yume copied Yuyami and did the same.
“Let’s go. I don’t want to miss the bus” Yuyami said to Yume. Yuyami was walking to the exit and waited for Yume to pass through before he shut and locked the door.
Yuyami grabbed Yume’s wrist and led her for about a quarter-mile until they stopped at a road sign. There was a road in front of her and there wasn’t a lot of traffic.
“And now we wait for the school bus,” Yuyami announced. He put his back against the sign for support and sat down on the dirt. Of course Yume refused to sit on dirt so she stood while they were waiting for the bus to arrive. Yume didn’t think that she was convincing enough to pass off as Yuyami’s sister so she made her bangs cover one eye completely in hopes that she would look tougher. Yuyami noticed this and chuckled slightly.
“Yeah, you look real bad now,” Yuyami remarked.
“Shut up!” Yume said in sort of a pout, while stamping her foot into the ground.
Both Yume and Yuyami diverted their attention towards looking for the school bus, Yuyami said that it should be here any minute now and to keep your eyes peeled for it.
About three minutes later a yellow school bus stopped right in front of them and Yuyami got off of the ground and got on the bus after Yume did. Yume found on empty seat in the seventh row on the passenger’s side of the bus. Yume sat down next to the window while Yuyami sat near the aisle. Yume noticed that guys were leering at her and that made her even more uncomfortable on the bus. In order to divert her attention, Yume just stared out of the window and glanced at the areas that the bus was passing. Yume glanced over at Yuyami for a second and wondered why he hasn’t even tried to eat his pop tart yet. Yume sighed and returned her gaze to the window. She saw the school about ten minutes later and everybody got off of the bus. Yuyami did not try to push his way through other students and waited until he was positive that he and Yume could get off without being separated by the crowd. They were perhaps the last people who got off of the bus.
Yuyami grabbed Yume’s wrist again and went into the throng of people. There were so many students! No wonder why Yuyami has a death-grip on Yume’s wrist. It looked like you could get swallowed up in here. Finally Yuyami found the crowd of people that he normally sits by while he waits for the school bell to ring so that he could go upstairs to his locker. He checked what time it was and it was 6:45 AM. He had fifteen minutes to eat. Yuyami sat against the wall and grabbed his pop tart and bottled water and started to eat his pop tart. Yume copied his act and ate her pop tart too. She listened to some guy ask Yuyami why he wasn’t at school yesterday and Yuyami replied that he was skipping because he felt like it. Someone asked him who she was. Yuyami told that person that Yume was his fraternal twin sister. Yume watched some punk run up to Yuyami and steal his pop tart. Someone ran off with an eaten pop tart?
“Hey! Give me back my ******** pop tart you b*****d before I shove my foot up your a**!” Yuyami yelled. Yuyami started chasing after the poor dude who was about ready to “get his a** kicked” by Yuyami. Eventually, Yuyami caught the dude and started punching him for stealing his pop tart. After Yuyami was finished pummeling the kid with his fist he went back to the spot where he was eating his pop tart at. Yume had this look of sheer terror since she wasn’t accustomed to violence or strong language and the fact that Yuyami beat this kid to a bloody pulp did not help either.
Yuyami noticed Yume fear and just sighed and went back to eating his pop tart without causing anymore disturbances. Yuyami finished his pop tart and noticed that the school counselor was walking up to him. The counselor drags Yuyami towards their office and sits him down in the chair.
